    Boy name help

DH and I have different opinion on boy names. But I am thinking that because I named DD, then DH should be able to name our DS.... BUT I don't like what he has in mind!!!!

    Jai

I think its short and boring (apologies if anyone out there has a boy named Jai!!) compared to our DD name (Avaleigh) so I was thinking of maybe lengthening it out somehow, IYKWIM!!

    Any one have any suggestions?

The name I have in mind is Levi but DH doesnt like it.

Thats one of my dh's fave names too, if we had a boy Jai. Lol. I felt the same.. to short for a first name even though I really like it. Hmm not much help really but what bout Jailen? Other then that may Jai-something else Goodluck, names are super hard and when I didn't know I was having a girl, I could not come up with any boys name...

I don't like Jai much and Jailen makes me think of people with cigarettes under their t-shirt sleeves and missing teeth.

If you had a Jason, a James or a Jacob you could use Jai as a nickname.

I have the following 'problem' with Jai...

Is it a creative spelling for Jay or is it pronounced Jye?

I never know how to pronounce it.

Yes it would be pronounced Jye
I think that a lot of people wouldnt know how to pronounce it..

Jai is a nice name, I met a lil boy called Jai and he was a cutie. but I just don't want to call our son that..

I agree with you, I don't think Jai & Avaleigh really complement each other. I do know Jai too but his name really suits him. I don't have any other suggestions.

Not to criticise anyone that does the "dad names the boys, mum names the girls" but im not a big one for that. I beleive you should both have a say and both love or at least like the name you choose for your baby. So if you dont like Jai, then i think u should both actively keep looking until u find one u both like. So keep offering DH suggestions lol :P

I agree that Jai and Avaleigh dont compliment each other, i think a more old style traditional name would compliment Avaleigh, its such a pretty name, reminds me of lace or something, dont know why. Anyway, rambling.............i would be looking along the lines of William, James, Roman (biased on that one :P), Oliver, Samuel, Isaac, Jacob etc etc

Very good to hear Ive got friends who have settled for something they dont like and regretted it and its taken them a long time to get used to the name.

When it comes to boys names i find it difficult but here are some suggestions.

    Luca
    Isaac
    Roman
    Oliver
    William
    Samuel
    Ethan
    Drew
    James
    Jacob
    Xavier

DH's name is Jason so anything similar is out and that's one of the reasons I dont want Jai Is cause it's too close and ppl could call him J-ay instead of J-ye...

We are most likely goin to use David as a middle name. I would like a first name that is unique but not too unusual, something trendy or even surfer like...
