    baby monitors

I'm considering buying the Angelcare movement and sound monitor. As I'm planning to have the baby sleep in our room for the first 6 months, some people have told me they don't think it's necessary. I think I would rather have it just for peace of mind, any thoughts on monitors?

I have the Sound and Movement but have never used the movement sensor pads. The monitor is great, very sensitive to noise, I can hear him breathing through it.

I love love love my angel care and when we are away and she's in the portacot, I really miss it. Going to have to wean myself off it with the next bubba coming along. I don't know that you need the movement pads if your bub is in your room but you'll find them invaluable once bub goes into a separate room.

I have this one too (obviously yet to use it though!). We have the sensor pads in her cot in her room, but she'll be in our room for the first 6 months so we'll use it without the pads til she's in her own room.

It was recommended to me by a friend who had one go off on her daughter - she's not sure if it was a false alarm or if her daughter actually stopped breathing, but she raced into the room immediately. She said it gave her great peace of mind

love my angel care and tell everyone who will listen about it!!!
WE used ours when bubs was in our room but without the sound bit on. Just put the movement bit on and that way if no movement was censored the alarm still went off but obviously we didn't need the actual sound monitor cos we were in the same room.

Lots of people thought it was a bit over the top but it helped me sleep and with a new baby, that was all that was important!

We have a baby sense monitor, which is the pads with the alarm unit and a separate monitor... I didn't like some of the functions on the angelcare, this way I got the monitor I wanted and the breathing pads. Our went off once when DD2 was a week old and I have never moved so quick in my life.
I gave me piece of mind for both my babies...
You also need to consider day sleeps, even if baby is in with you at night, you are not going to be in the same room the whole time for daysleeps and newborns can sleep alot!
