    How to keep medicine in?

DD has tonsillitis and the doc gave her the foulest tasting antibiotics he could probably find.

First dose went in ok..... Second a fight.... Now DD won't even take sweet calpol (like dymadon I guess) or nurophen.

Her temp is still up at 39 but she spews when I try and give any medicine.

Short of getting suppositories coz nothing is open, how do you all get medicine in, and keep it in?

    Tia

It is soooo incredibly hard when they are vomiting it. You can position them so that they can't spit it out, but vomiting is something different altogether.
I would keep trying (but at the right intervals as you can't be sure if she's getting anything into her or not) and take her back to the docs if you're still struggling.
Try to make sure you keep things light each time you give it. You have to give the impression you are ok with everything, even if you're finding it hard. Phoebe was on ABs for a while with her pneumonia and the first doses were a huge struggle (we had to hold her reclined until she swallowed and she would normally make choking noises. Very scary and horrible) but we tried very hard to speak soothingly to her, to always shower her with attention and affection after each dose. She was infinitely better by the last dose, even opening her mouth and taking the medicine without a struggle.
Hope you find something that works for you soon. Tonsilitis is yucky

Can you mix it with a little juice before giving it to her? i know.. juice isnt ideal for toddlers but its more important for her to get the medicine down without worrying about 5mls of juice.

I cant help much more sorry, DD has always been great at taking medicine. Good luck!

Took her back to the doc.... He prescribed the medicine given to those allergic to penicillin. I only have to give her 2ml each day for 3 days.... Then its over. Phew! I have such a feisty little girl on my hands!!!

    Thanks girls x
