Does anyone have their Tragus pierced?

    Hi,

Just after a bit of info on tragus piercings. I really want to get mine done (only on one side), and just want to know if it hurts? I know everyone's pain threshold is different but what was it like for you? Also are they prone to infections, easy/hard to look after etc?

My daughter turns one next week and Im not sure if I should wait until after her party to get it done as we will have a lot of relatives there who I haven't seen for a while and will hug me and I am scared they will bump it.

I had the top of my ear pierced as a teenager and have not had any dramas with it and still have it in now but I also had my nose pierced as a teenager too and had nothing but trouble so I removed it. It has left a very tiny scar so I am a bit scared that my happen to my tragus too. Both the top of my ear and nose were done with a gun (i know now, that cartlidge (sp) should never be pierced with a gun) but I will be getting my tragus done at a clean professional piercing salon that does it with a needle.

Any info would be great, thanks.

The little flap thing that is on the side of your face right at the opening of your ear hole.....if that makes sense? lol

i did have mine done. i don't think it hurt that much when i had it done. i did get a lump around the piercing on the front for a little while (but i have had that with all cartelidge piercings - must just be me!) but it went after a little while (and it didn't hurt).

my jewellery fell out one night & instead of replacing it, i decided to retire it. it didn't cause me any major problems or pain though while i did have it

Yeah I've had a few people tell me about the crunch noise or some people say they heard a pop. Come to think of it I had a bump on my top cartelidge piercing for a little while too that went away.

I had mine done a few years ago, it hurt I'm not going to lie but not excruciating or anything bad. I agree with your GF Tellytubby, you can hear it pop thru ever layer of cartlidge thats for sure.

The only problem I have had with mine is wearing the earphones for my ipod and things, it just doesnt sit right and the earphones dont quite go in like normal? Oh and putting the earing/barbel in on your own is really hard.

I love it! DH hates it tho :P

i have the lowest pain threshold ever - seriously im a sook! but i think getting the bottom of my ears done hurt more than my tragus, the noise was the worst part. Ive had no troubles with it since either

It's like being licked on by kittens XD
A friend of mine has hers done and she reckons it was bare-able. I wouldn't get it done now if your DD is at that pulling jewelry stage tho. My DS loves earrings at the moment.

Funny you mention about the cartilage of your ears being pearced with a needle. I had one done with a needle had had nothing but problems with it. The other four with the gun and they are all a-ok. I've since taken three out, (for no reason other than the fact DH bought these really cute diamond earrings for me that sit there really well XD) but I'm still able to get two back in. Funnily enough the needle one is the one that closed up.

i have mine done....it HURT SOOO MUCH i almost passed out getting it done, and ive had quite a few ear rings and my belly button and tongue done in the past. BUT the guy had never done one before i guess he could have just stabbed around and made it worse than it needed to be!
I have a hoop in it now and it doesnt hurt, had it done 12 years ago (holy crap that makes me feel old) and to be honest i hurt for years! but i loved it and stuck out the really long healing time and annoying pain! doesnt hurt anymore!

Yep I have it & I love it!! I just have a tiny diamanté in it & I love how it looks!

Pain wise, I would say it's fine. I've had a few piercings over the years & this one definitely hurt the least. I've also had tongue & labret, back in my rebel days. This one was fine though. You can hear it!

I got around the headphone thing once I'd had it for a bit, I just changed it to a tiny length bar.

I agree it is really hard to change yourself though!

Good luck! You will love it!

I have had mine done twice now and I loved it! The only reason I had it done twice was my body slowly pushed the first one out but it didn't hurt nearly as much as I expected it too. I have had my tongue, belly, nose and ear cartilage done and must say the nose was the most painful for me.
If you have had your nose pierced with a gun it will be nowhere near as painful as that

Do it! you will love it

Thanks girls, reading all your experiences has made me really want to get it done. I'd love to go tomorrow but DH will be at work & there is no way I am taking the kids in with me to get it done. I had my tongue pierced as well years ago and can't remember that hurting so surely I should be able to handle my tragus......right?? Hopefully I can get it done in the next few days before I chicken out lol.

I had mine done. I love the look of them.

Unfort it never took. I developed a keyloid which never went away and hurt alot!

And I have pretty much everything pierced and this is the only one I ever had problems with.

But saying that I'm going to go get it redone and try again.

I'm worried about keloid scarring too. I have a small scar on my nose from when it was pierced but I can cover it with make up, I'm worried I will scar on my tragus & not be able to cover it up. I've had no dramas with my upper ear cartilage though & it's been pierced for 15 years so fingers crossed my tragus will be ok.

Beatrix, is your keloid scar very noticeable?

I have mine done, I'd rather a three hour tattoo session tbh. It hurt like all buggery and the noise it made was horrible! The worst part was it didn't bleed straight away, wasn't until I was getting weird looks in coles df told me I had blood going down
    My neck!! Eek

MY big DD has both of hers done... she freaks out at the thought of a blood test, but got her first one redone, and her second done a year or so later, so I guess it wasnt too bad...

I love how they look, thought about getting mine done.. I'm just a big procrastinating chicken
