Yeyy today I start to kick this ugly habit!!

After 13 yrs I'm kicking this habit that has taken 2 people I truly adored and many others also..,
    SMOKING!!!
I went to the dr yesterday to get advice on champix something 5 of my family members have had success with, so now I've started these today and fingers crossed this is my key to a smoke free, long healthy life
    Wish me luck people's!!!

    Good luck.
When ever I start to waver I think about having to leave my babies before time and my resolve strengthens.
I would do anything to stay here with them.

    Thanks ladies!!
Littlelara- that is my main fear cancer is in my family big time, and I'm scared of leaving my kids behind.. That makes me so sad but this is one big step to cut my chances of falling into that category.. Fingers x'd anyways..

Good luck Sparklez! And congrats on making the decision to see the Dr & quit A mate of DH's has just started Champix (about 2 weeks ago) and gets support from the QuitLine - he's doing fantastically so far!

    You can do it!!

Congrats Sparklez, welcome to the start of your new life as a non smoker!

A friend of mine found making a list of all the "good" things about non smoking helped her, she kept it on the fridge where she she could see it all the time.
    Things like
as you said, being around for your kids, being able to taste things better, being able to smell better, also smelling better yourself!
think about why/what is important to you.
Good luck, don't forget to reward yourself with your cash that is no longer going up in smoke!

(Just as an aside, a doctor once said to me after finding out I was a smoker, "you a rich girl? you can afford to burn money??" LOL, makes sense when you think about it!)

Congratulations on taking the first step! I've been smoke free for 18 months now and its one of the hardest things I've done, but very rewarding! I feel great now and so will you! Good luck!

    Thanks girls
Yeah me and dh are doing together so we decided to put the $17 we each spent per day in a money box and have a look at how much we will have this time next year and either halve it or go on a holiday
    Rather exciting aspect lol!!
It's so good to hear success stories!
Congrats to all you that have quit. Wish I hadn't started in the beginning lol bit late now but the phrase "better late than never" is my motto right now lol

Congrats on quitting Sparklez, your much stronger than I was (my next attempt is hypno) but I did find, and my doc reccommended, dont even try to quit or cut down until you have been on them for the reccommended initial time (leading up to your chosen quit day), then you will notice how easy it is, I genuanlly kept forgetting I was even a smoker, and would just distract myself for a minute or so and then I'd remember again in a few hours! I guess what I'm trying to say is it will be much easier in about a week. Also, make sure you take them with food & don't take them too close to bed time or the nightmares will haunt you for months!
Unfortunately I had to stop taking them and I'm still getting over the side effects, (plus I had quite a few smokers around me & lots of added stress)
But with saying that, they DO WORK! congrats again, I wish I was in your shoes right now, but I'm off down another path asap, and I'll see you at our destination!

Good luck - You can do this
You will probably miss the social aspect more then the smoking part. xox
Champix is good - but please take the WHOLE dose (i think it works out to 3-6m worth) you need it all to fully kick it. Your doing an awesome thing for your health
The champix might also make you feel quite sick - so make sure you eat a little when you take them and keep some ginger for the nausea xo (just like with MS)
GOOD LUCK (not that you need it! )

just read you comment afterwards - Rome wasn't built in a day hun - this takes time... Don't be hard on yourself! Choose a day to quit and stand by that day xox after a couple of days the smokes will start to taste really bad and you wont want a whole full one Be easy on your self.
