    orgasm after natural birth??

mmmm ok, so i had a great, totally natural birth with no pain "down there".

I know you are supposed to wait 6 weeks for penetrative sex, but what about orgasms only? Can this cause any harm? I had my baby 7 days ago...

    TIA

    Firstly WHOOP!!! nice work!!
Secondly, I don't imagine an orgasm could wreck anything down there. Maybe cause your bleeding to become a little heavier by making everything contract? Not too sure.
I was having full, penatretive intercourse less than 2 weeks after having DD... didn't hurt me (and hubby LOVED it! haha).
( I had an easy VB with no tearing)

    Enjoy I say!

I had a non penetrative orgasm at seven days pp, and had a bleed afterwards. I got scared and stayed in bed for a few days.

I also had a natural birth, no tears and am feeling a *little* bit that way inclined too! I'm 9 days pp, but I'm not going to act on it...had a big bleed yesterday, and my normal bleeding is already very heavy, I don't want to increase it at all.

Lol Water Lily, I was going to post a thread just like this! The only thing I was thinking is that it'd cause the uterus to contract, but that can't be too bad a thing right?

I think 6 weeks is a guide... I was having penetrative sex sooner than that, (less than two weeks after DS2). I think the risk is of infection, the same reaosn they tell you not to use tampons. I don't think a non-penetrative orgasm would hurt

Thats what I think too. Its more about the risk of infection etc. I was nowhere near ready at that timeframe Well done on the natural birth with no tearing!!! You must be super proud

Wanted to add, how you feel about it is probably the best indication... I have had times where I didn't wait long at all and other times where it was weeks & weeks. And I think you will find that peoples experiences in general are wide & varied. So go with what you feel comfortable with

Thanks ladies!!! I was surprised I couldn't find any other threads on this topic and thought I must be a randy freak! lol.

Mind you, I nEVER had the urge this early after my others.

So I asked my midwife at her visit today, and she said there was no time limit on orgasm only, and she said it could only help with contracting it down...(yay!) and heaps of ladies show up to the 6 wk check preggers already.

Yep, I say go for it if you're feeling that way inclined, chick Congratulations on the birth of your little one, and yippee at getting the natural homebirth you wanted! I had penetrative intercourse around 7 days after DD2 was born (normal vaginal delivery, no tears or grazing) and everything worked just fine, so don't be afraid to give penetration a go if you feel like you're up to it, and your body is recovering well after birth. It may take a little more effort to achieve orgasm so soon after birth (well I did, anyway - just a bit of prolonged foreplay for a couple of weeks after birthing, I was a bit 'desensitised' after pushing a baby out of there and needed to spend a little more time on stimulation!), but if you're feeling ready to try, it can only help with uterine contraction, which will make your body's recovery a little easier Good luck, have fun! xx

ETA: Don't feel weird, I think that having a really positive birth can lead to you feeling a bit randy - I know I felt great after having DD2 and it made me feel pretty sexy and womanly that I had achieved the most natural and positive birthing experience I could have hoped for in a hospital setting! Take advantage of it!

Congrats on your bus and a natural birth. I also had a totally natural birth but I was way too tired to have sex a week pp lol we dtd at 5 weeks just to make sure it all worked before heading back to the OB for a check up. As they others have said the uterus contractions would probably cause a bleed but that's not a problem, I believe the contractions are to help it shrink back to regular size so I guess it's kinda a good thing? Many woman find those shrinking contraction painful but if they aren't for you than I say go for it

Definately not to soon. Orgasm is great for your pelvic floor also. I had penatretive intercourse with my first at 10-days PP but with the next 2 not until 4weeks due to postpartum bleeding. I only bled for 7days with my first. I was definately randy even days after birthing this time but due to a tear also my body wasn't up to it.
