Steamed up bathroom can help (RCH do not recommend anymore due to risk of burns and some say it doesnt help)
I have a friend who swears by taking her DD outside for 10 mins as rekons the cold helps
When DS2 had croup 1 night at 8 months and I had no redipred I sat him in bouncer in our ensuite with shower door closed (to avoid spashing of water hitting him) and ran shower for 20 mins he was much better and we got thru night and then went to GP in morning.
Well she seems to be worse if she's in the night air for just 5 minutes. I avoided having her outside all day.... Til I burnt the oil when cooking dinner & had to open the house up!
Yet DD1's asthma improves with night air...
If thats the only reason the steam thing stopped I'm gonna try it. I usually put mine in a shower with some eucalyptus oil. Steams them up good, warms them up & loosens any gunk in their nose & chests for sleep.
Yes you need a script for redipred but I have found that giving some ventolin helps as well. You can now buy that over the counter for $5.60. My brother used to get very severe croup and mum swore by the steam method
I've used ventolin for it when i've run out of Redipred/Predmix, but it's no where near as effective. It will still do until you can get to a Dr for a script though.
Must be something in the air. We had to take ds to er last night. We use a vapouriser and vics as well as the script. Have to say though, I've found nothing else anywhere near as good as the script. Id go to the gp as soon as you can.
