Baby has a cold - what should I do?

My 2 and a half month old DD has a cold (runny / stuffy green nose). She is purely breastfed. Is there anything I should / should not be eating to help her? Is there anything else I should be doing for her? I have the saline spray and the nose sucker, but that rarely helps as it's way in the back of her nose. A humidifier doesn't work cause our bedroom is too big. I put the heater on in the early hours of the morning and that seems to help a bit. I know I can put her in a steamy bathroom if it gets blocked, but she's more just snotty. It doesn't seem to be affecting her feeding, just when she sleeps, she is a bit restless (so am I!)

    Any suggestions??

    Thanks!

Breastfeed her as much as possible. Even try and get some more feeds snuck in there. Also breastmilk squirted up her nose will help clear it. I wouldnt change anything your eating, its not needed

    Hope she gets better soon

You pretty much listed everything i would do when my bub had a cold. I used to do the steamy bathroom with Eucaluptus (sp??) oil and use the sucker while we were in there. I hope she gets better soon xxxxxxxxx

She can have panadol which will help to ease any pressure she might be feeling and you can put some vicks onto her undergarmets (not on her skin) so the warmth will send the vapours up to her.

Aside from that I would recommend keeping the humidifier going, even if you think the room is too large, at night you'd be surprised how well they work in a large room (my bedroom is 5.5mx4.5m with 12ft ceilings and it works in there). Through the day keep it going wherever you spend your time ie.living room etc. I only ever use plain Eucalyptus oil in mine and because the rooms are so large I can put more or less in itms.

Other than that plenty of mummy snuggles and breastmilk.

    Hope this helps

What everyone else said! Plus you can also slightly raise the bed with a rolled up towel, just a bit so that she is on a slight angle and it will help the mucous go down rather than back. Keep up lots of feeds to keep her hydrated and hopefully it will pass quickly for you all xoxox

MIL says take kid to doc.

My little one has a very nasty cold at the moment, not really a lot you can do. Just been holding him all week and trying to keep the feeds up, he's almost completely off solids. He'd eat dinner if he could stay awake long enough but he passes out while he's eating. Everyone else in the house has had the same cold and it is a really bad one so we know how the poor thing feels.
