keeping weigh under control while pregnant, help needed
I was already over weight before i fell preg and since this was from a fresh transfer i also had the added weight i put on while growing 12 eggs !
anyway i had my first hospital app with the docs and the doc ( tiny female) basically told me i was fat !
anyway cause i am over 35 and overweight she told me i am in a higner risk for gestational diabetes and because of that i can only put on "baby weight"this time or else i can't have the baby in the birth centre where i had all the boys.
i feel so fat and i don't want to get any fatter
i have put on about 5kg already and some of that is breast size. lol
i need some help
i have been doing 3 walks 30 mins each per week minimum. also a pilates class for back pain. i am starting a pregnancy exercise class next week run by the hospital physio dept so will be getting some extra exercise there
i have also cut down on sugar and fatty foods
any other ideas that are safe for me while preg, would be most appreciated
i do find it hard at the end of the day as i am still feeling sick and tired a lot so try to do most everything during the day.
If you can do exercise, that is certainly going to help. Otherwise you really need to just look at the types of food you are consuming. Make sure you are mostly eating healthy fresh produce, are eating across all the food groups, and are stopping when you feel satisfied. It is very hard (especially when everyone seems to try to encourage you to do the oppersite whilst pregnant) but it can be done.
Also when you do fall off the wagon (and you will at times), the importan thing is not to beat yourself up about it, but just get straight back on track the next meal.
I am a big believer in writing down everything you have consumed (food and drink). It keeps you honest with yourself, and you may just be surprised at how much you are actually eating or how much of what you are eating is not very healthy.
I dont know if u saw any of my threads whilst i was pregnant about my hospital refusing me because my bmi was 1 point above there cut off?
Well i got to birth there, after keeping my weight down.
I didnt add any excersise to my normal daily routine, i just changed my eating habits, and still allowed myself a treat each week. I basically just ate salad and vegies with my meat at dinner, controlled my portion sizes, cut out the regular take out meal, and increased my fruit servings.
Somedays it killed me, all i wanted was pizza, or something, but i knew that i had to do it cause i needed to birth at my hospital of choice.
I indulged in a treat or two, and never felt guilty about it, especially if i had been good all week
I weighed myself the day i went into labour (sun), and then on the tue, and there was a 4.8 kilo difference, and baby weighed 3.6 kilos! I was pretty happy with myself.
