    Tell me about spotting...

Lovely topic I know but I am curious.

When you "spot" before you get your period, is it just like a really light bleed? Or is it more like a fleck of blood or a teeny tiny clot/tissue when you wipe?

The reason I ask is I am CD34 today. When I wiped this morning I had teeny tiny clot of red blood/piece of lining. Just one. Nothing since. No cramps.

My period usually starts as a light bleed for the first half day or so then continues to a full bleed. So this is different. Unusual.

    Thanks in advance

For me, I 'spot' a day or two before AF. My spotting consists of brown tinted mucus, sometimes a very light pinkness on the toilet paper.
A friend of mine would have clear mucus with a streak of red through, kind of veiny-looking (yes, she showed me a photo of it after a few vinos!)

I don't get spotting before. I get it after. So when my period comes (Yesterday if your really interested) It comes in the morning and is Heavy... By day two it has slowed down... Day 3-4 is just some spotty blood on the liners. And they really look like spots :P

For me spotting is usually a little bit of old blood when I wipe and if I do get it, it's a day or two before AF arrives...

I started spotting Tuesday I usually start spotting for anything up to 4-5 days before actual AF comes. I hate it, just makes AF seem like she's staying for days!
So I have been wearing panty liners and there is the tiniest amount of red blood, but mostly pink tinged when I wipe. Still no proper AF yet, but today I am 15DPO, so spot on.

For me spotting is very, very light bleeding. Usually old blood mixed with mucous (creamy, sometimes ewcm). It usually happens for me half a day to a day before AF hits in full force, and for one or two days at the end of AF.

For me, spotting is browny mucous which is a spot here and there. I usually get it at the end of a period, rarely at ovulation.

Spotting for days before AF can be a sign of low progesterone, apparently.

    Excuse the poor sentence structure.

    Thanks everyone!

Haven't had anything since so who knows

I guess AF will show in her own sweet time (probably when it's least convenient!)

Tash, don't worry about your sentence structure. Too bad it was not.

Oh no, I ALWAYS spot for a few days before and after! I'm sure I had progesterone checked before I went on clomid. They definitely would have tested , wouldn't they???? How do you treat that? I've seen 2 GP's and seen a gyno.

N2L, good luck! Hope AF doesn't show!!

Thanks! I did a test at 10dpo (cd24) and another at cd 28 - bfn so it is unlikely. I had light bleeding at 3-5 dpo, then that spot the other day... I think my body is just getting back into (or out of) gear after IVF.
I need AF to start another cycle...

Thanks tashybabe, I just called my gyno and the receptionist looked up my files. My progesterone was tested last year and it was all fine.
I am going to see a naturopath that has been recommended by friends, hope it works!
