Zap, your new little man is seriously cute - think he's going to be a heartbreaker when he's older
How are you finding being home? I finally go home tomorrow, after 8 nights in hospital. I miss my puppy dog and my bed and not having people just walking into my room at all hours!
I am also looking forward to no more needles at home! We counted and I've had at least 17 injections in the last week *shudder*
Ohhh Kimbles you poor thing! You must be dying to get home. The thought if sleeping in my own bed was enough to ask for an early release! I was just lucky we where both doing well.
So how are you finding recovery after your c section?
I do love little girls and the way they wrap their daddy's around their little fingers and by the sounds of it your little one has already stolen hearts!!
just popping in to say hello and look forward to meeting you all.
just a little info:
Hannah Sophia Rose born 14th september, at 3:05am by emergency c section (i was booked in to have her that afternoon but she was stubbourn and had to come on her own terms) at 37 weeks(due to grade 3 placenta praevia and bleeding episode)
she weighed 2.590kg or 5lb7oz and was 47cm long.
she is currently in the nicu on a cpap due to a slight infection from swallowing fluid when she was delivered, she has been slowly improving and were hopeing to have her home by the end of next week
kimbles - are you not home yet? whats happened? how are you?
mad4e - congrats!! hope hannah can come home soon!
hi zap! hows it going?
art, curly & damprye?????? where r you???
all good here - hayden is feeding every 4 hours, self settling. im feeding 10 mins on each breast and top up with formula. she was ridiculously upset in hossy and thats the only way she will settle. i felt bad for a while but obviously i dont have enough milk for her - 20 min feeds each side and she would still scream the house down.
omg my nipples are so sore - when the frick does that stop?????
dh is such a great help, im going to freak out on monday on my own
Alish - don't stress, when I wrote the last post, it was the day before I checked out of hospital. I was in private, so I stayed for 7 days (6 nights), plus the 2 nights I was in for my (unsuccessful) induction attempts! My nipples are so sore too! My midwife tells me that it should settle down a few weeks after bubs starts feeding...so hopefully in a week or so mine will get tougher!
Zap - how are things going for you? By the sounds of things, it's birthday central at your house! I can only imagine how hectic things must be with a newborn. DH turns 30 next month and we're having a casual open house party - I'm stressing already and DD will be a month old by then
Mad4e - welcome to the group! Hope your little one gets to come home soon. Are you healing ok after your c/s? For me it's getting used to having a slightly numb butt still! Can't wait for all that feeling to come back in the next few months.
AFM - I am so much feeling like a moo cow and nothing else right now. We've made 2 visits to the GP this week, DD has a really blocked nose, and on Thursday night developed conjunctivitis. Apart from that, we are quite lucky to get 4 and 5 hour stretches of sleep overnight, which is one of the only things keeping me sane right now!! So thankful that DH has another 3 & 1/2 weeks of holidays - if he'd only had two weeks, he'd be back at work on Monday and I think I'd then be forever living in milk stained pjs with mad hair, not eating anything!!
Hope everyone has a great weekend - 27 degrees here today and sooo lovely!
Hi ladies,
Just a quick one as i dont have much time...
Congrats to all of us - what a great job we have done..
I have been out of the loop as i went through quite an ordeal..
I had a pph bleed of 1.5L at birth due to my uterus not contracting back..2 nights later i blacked out and once raced to emergency again they found an internal bleed where a vain on the outside of my uterus ruptured (apparently very rare) i had blood transfusions and platelet transfusions as well as iv drips and oxygen...i now have a 2.5L clot in my tummy which they said will eventually break down and go away..there was too much blood to operate so the safest thing is to let it go on its own otherwise chances at operation id lose my womb..
Finally got to come home yesterday as you can imagine im anxious and hoping its not bleeding anymore and will do what they say and breakdown..
After all that Ruby Grace is absolutly gorgeous and i love her to bits - definetly won our hearts my precious little girl
Sheree - sorry things have been so rough for you. Fingers crossed everything sorts itself out soon.
Makes my whinge seem pretty minor in comparison...
Today - DD doesn't want to be put down. At all. Which means no sleep for me or DH. She also wants to feed pretty much every hour. Which means not a lot of eating or drinking by me. At this point today, I don't know who has cried more - DD or me . And my boobs hurt sooo much that every time DD cries or looks for food I'm finding myself cringing. Seriously tempted to get DH to go to the chemist and pick up some formula, as I don't know if I can face another feed today. Whinge over.
Anyone who has already been through this with a kid before, please tell me it gets easier?!?
Oh Kimbles I had a similar day! My ds was awake from 8am and refused to be put down and wanted to comfort suck all day! Honey it does get better
Are your nipples cracked or grazed?
Maybe send dh to chemist (think they sell them) for some nipple shields?
Have you rang ABA? They are lovely and I think I had them on speed dial my first time round!! It could be an attachment issue that is causing so much pain.
The first 6 weeks are the toughest when establishing bf. It feels as if you are a cow! I like to think that's why babies begin to smile and respond around the same time it makes it all feel worth while!
For what it's worth you will have these types of days when formula feeding too (obviously without the pain). It does get better I promise! Just keep hydrated as much as possible and get dh to bring lots of snacks.
Maybe also check out the breast feeding section on here it may help to know you're not alone. Xoxo
So DD screams the house down when we change her nappy or change her clothes. I know that babies are used to being warm inside the body before being born, but is this something babies grow out of? I don't want the neighbours to think we're torturing her, especially in the middle of the night
Lol yeah she will out grow it! Soon enough she'll be sticking her hands down her nappy showing you her poo and then laughing. ( or maybe that's just my little ferrals!).
kimbles im hearin ya on the screaming when changing/bathing!!! it breaks my heart but makes me laugh at the same time, cuz her cry is so cute!
im glad everything is ok
sheree - you poor thing, i hope you make a speedy recovery, what an ordeal! i bet looking at your beautiful girls face makes things a little better though xxx
zap - omg i will die if she ever grabs her poos!! haha how funny!!
first day on my own here - dh back at work today.. ive been very emotional and just bursting into tears since hayden was born - normal or something to worry about? everyones telling me its normal
Hey Alish it's normal to a degree because everything is so over whelming. It probably wouldn't hurt mention it to you MCHN they should ask! If it is still persisting at your 6 week check up you should be telling your doc.
