So, DS (who is now 2.5) was not a roller and did not crawl. At about 12 months he started bum shuffling and then walked by about 16 months. Although he is perfectly normal now, his lack of movement and then lack of crawling caused me quite a bit of anxiety at the time.
DD is now showing all the same signs. At almost 8 months she has only rolled twice and does not seem at all interested in trying to move. She sits well (as did DS) and will reach for toys, but will not try to move to get them, either when she is sitting or lying on her back or tummy.
So I'm looking for any suggestions on ways to encourage her to crawl. I try to put her on her tummy as often as possible. Generally she will only last for 5 minutes at the most and then either wants to be picked up or sitting.

Hi gypsy, my 8 month old DD is the same. She is happy to sit there and look at her toys. No rolling, not interested in tummy time, definately no where near crawling.... I say enjoy it while it lasts lol! My first was a late mover and I remember feeling a bit panicky about it too, but looking back now I was worrying for no reason, now I cant keep her still
In some cultures most kids dont crawl. Here they dont really crawl. but, toys for babys about that age are often on wheels so baby can chase. have you tryd crawling with her? What kind of floors do you have? maybe they need knee pads. balls can help baby to move
I put DS favourite toy (Mr Monkey) just outside of hands reach and get right down on the floor with him and talk to him and encourage him to crawl to it, or roll over to reach it I also have a Bright Starts ball he really likes too
have you ever met an adult who couldnt crawl??
why should she go get things when she has a perfect big brother to do that for her??
try not to stress (easier said than done i know) but your daughter is developing just perfectly for her
