DSLR - What lenses do you have and would recommend?

I have not long had my DSLR camera and it's fantastic.

It came with an 18-55mm lens and it's great. I am going to purchase a 50mm f/1.8 lens in the next couple of weeks but I also want something that can zoom from a distance.

What would you recommend? I'd also love to hear about all the lenses you have too!!

I had a 35mm f/1.8 and LOVED it but have to sell it now because I just upgraded and it doesn't work with my new camera. Now I have a 50mm f/1.4, it's AWESOME!

What sort of shots did you use it for Heaven?

I have a 18-55mm that came with my camera too, but when I got my camera package I got a Tamron Macro 180-300mm lens - love love love it

Great for those macro nature shots, but I also find it handy to take natural photos from afar of my toddler with his knowledge, best way to take candid natural photos of busy little people

My next lens will be a 50mm - I'd love a f/1.2 but will probably settle for a 1.4 unless I win the lotto

I know this is an old thread but what the heck! I am a Canon shooter. Currently I have an old 8 mp Rebel XT (really want to upgrade..lol). Currently I will say my best lens is the Canon 50mm f/1.8. I just acquired a Sigma 70 - 300mm APO DG w/Macro setting. I am still playing with it. Overall I think I like it and the ratings on B&H are real strong. Its not a fast lens and does not have anti-shake so with my current camera body it has bigger limitations than I would prefer. That said it seems to take pretty good pictures when I can control the shake.

I also have a Sigma kit lens that my dad found on an old film camera. Its not the best but I use it from time to time. I would like to replace it but find myself too cash strapped to address all my needs or desires.
