    Weighing bub

How often is everyone weighing their babies? With dd she was weighed heaps in the first few weeks. Ds was a biggish baby (over 9 pounds) and he was weighed in hospy then at 10 days and not again. He's a month old now. In a couple of weeks we have a pead appt so he will bs weighed then but I'm getting a bit of a complex as he's a bit of a power spewer. Hes big. His neck rolls are hard to clean and he has grown out of clothes etc. Is this normal with the weigh ins though?

My boys were and still are weighed often, but they've always been classified as 'under-weight' (not that I think they are...) so they like to keep a close eye on them.

Sorry I can't really help here. I hope someone can.

I only weighed ds monthly early on now I do it quarterly - didn't go and see the chn if he's growing, pooing, weeing and is generally happy I wouldn't worry too much but if the chucking(I think you mentioned that - on phone so can't check easily) is concerning you then get it checked - for your peace of mind if nothing else

In the early days I only weighed DD when she had her checks with the MCHN, and since then when I happen to be at the GPs office... roughly every couple of months. The best advice the MCHN gave me was "Look at your baby." Sounds so simple and logical but to a first time Mummy worried about bf supply it was a revelation. If you can see that bub is healthy and there are plenty of wet and poopy nappies, I wouldn't be too worried about a number on a scale.

All babies are different and everything is relative - I've had people say that DD is HUUUUGE and also TIIIIIIIINY - of course, in comparison to their bubs. I'd say only weigh as often as you feel necessary, but don't stress yourself out over it. A friend of mine who is a highly anxious type limited herself to once every two weeks, otherwise she would have sent herself (and the nice ladies at the pharmacy) around the bend.

Thanks ladies. We've got lots of wet and dirty nappies and he looks fine. I was just worried if I was supposed to bs checking to make doubly sure

I go to our local child and family health clinic (about 5 mins away) and weigh DD every two weeks or so - I was worried that she was only feeding 6-7 times a day as a newborn, as I kept getting told she needed 8-12. I like going there as you can pop in and weigh them without an appt or needing to see anyone.

My tip is to weigh their outfit and a clean nappy at home beforehand so you don't have to undress bubs when you're there - my DD is adverse to being nude and would scream the place down if I tried to strip her off!! Then you just submit the clothes etc from the total.
