I don't get a specific size, I just go in and hold my hands apart and ask for "one about this big" LOL. it would be about a 4kg ham - I hate having too much ham leftover.

Skybie, it usually feeds the 6 of us for about a week. If you were going to have a meal with it, I'd get a much larger one.

Can never remember, DH tends to pick. The annual choosing of the ham is such stressful experience, I wish I could avoid it. Dh is always in search of the illusive perfect ham. I am sure every ham gets handled 10 times by him before he chooses.

In the past I have ordered to save the stress, but then the stress just moves to Christmas day. Heaven help me if it is bad ham

    Yep. That.

I get a full leg, not sure how big it is, but after we bake it and carve it, the left overs all get portioned up and shredded and frozen for pizzas and quiches' etc.

Oh no no, you don't have to! You can take it out and carve that baby right there onto the plate if you want to

I glaze it and bake it in the oven on Christmas Eve and carve and serve it cold on Christmas Day.

NOOOOOO! Don't bake it. That's ruining a perfectly good ham. You just eat it. By the handful. We had a practice ham this weekend. mmmmmm.

so, your DH is a Ham Handler?! I think we are married to the same man (except I'm not married to him). Christmas meats are a very serious business in this house. Very serious. Don't even get me started on the roast pork I don't get to touch it until it's on a fork entering my mouth.

Skybie, I only started baking and glazing my ham a few years ago and, oh my goodness, it is amazing!!! Really easy to do too. I highly recommend it

I am actually not sure what is worse: the search for the elusive perfect Christmas ham or the search for the perfect fruit mince pie.

That's why I love roast meals in general - DH does all the work and I get to sit back, relax, then stuff my face with the roasted goodness! DH is still working on the art of the perfect crackle. I am allowed to make homemade applesauce to accompany the meal though

Lol we have a day dedicated to ham. My DH calls it ham day. Technically it's boxing day but it's the day we all gather to open the ham at his mums house. She buys a huge ham specially for this day.
I'm sure its DH favorite day of the year.
