Meaningful gift for a 40th/going away occasion

Just wondering if anyone's got any good ideas for a 40th present for a friend who will shortly be moving interstate. I want to give her something that is meaningful, but am totally out of the habit of shopping and I haven't got a clue where to start!

    Ideas...please!

Depends on your budget but what about a piece of jewellery? Normally I would say lovely glass of some kind - vase, bowl or whatever - but if your friend is moving that might be more of a hassle for her.

For my 40th a friend gave me a beautiful Wedgewood tea cup and saucer. Ridiculously expensive, but its beautiful to drink out of and it reminds me of all the fun we'e had at high teas together.

How soon is she going? What about an experience type gift - like a high tea voucher or something like that?! So it will be a memory she has because she went with you or maybe a group of people could all go or something?

A print of the place she is moving from to remember it by?

It was only decided a few weeks ago and they're moving in a couple more weeks so it'll be pretty flatchat between now and then. Nice idea, wouldn't mind doing the high tea thing meself!

Pandora bracelet with one charm to start her off - something that has a sentimental meaning to it.

I was going to suggest a bracelet too but was thinking of a Thomas Sabo one ... then you could add a charm to represent how you know each other?

    OR

find something that is special just between the two of you for example ... a friend and I joked that we'd be old ladies sitting with crazy hats on our head, unmatching clothes, blue eye shadow and red lipstick eating Thai on Bourke road .... so we often find cards with old ladies in crazy hats on them. We met through dancing but both got into that particular style of dance through a love of Jazz, so for her birthday this year I got her a charm that was music notes.

sorry for waffling but had to explain

Hmmm, I must admit this thread is making me feel like a right tightarse. I mean I love my friend and everything but I sure can't afford to lash out on a Pandora bracelet let alone with a charm too!

I like your idea Naenae of really personalising it, but I need to get my skates on because the dinner thing is tomorrow night (!)

What about a favourite photo of the two of you in a really lovely frame?

That's the only idea I have so far, if I think of anything else I'll come back!
