What's the one job you absolutely hate and how do you get it done?

I loathe folding washing. Really really loathe folding washing. Thankfully we generally don't bother with ironing unless it's particular items, as I hate that too. I'd sooner scrub the bathroom or clean the loo or do just about anything else than sit folding washing.

So I wind up with a house that is mostly clean and organised except that there is this massive mountain of washing in one corner underneath which is a washing basket somewhere, and several small piles of various partially folded items. It's always there and drives me crazy!

So how do you lessen the pain of tasks you hate so it actually gets done?

Cleaning the bathroom and shower! Luckily DH usually gets sick of it before I do and does it, lol. Plus at the moment not being able to bend over very easily is a good excuse.

I find with any arduous chore, a bit of good music to listen to while doing it really helps!

I hate cleaning bathrooms so much, when we renovated the bathrooms recently, I designed them specifically to be easy to clean, made such a difference, too

Im with you CK, I loathe folding washing too.
Actually washing it, hanging it out, bringing it in, no problem but the folding! I regularly have competitions with myself on just how high I can get my 'to be folded' pile before I risk losing a child (or two) under it! And with 5 of them (kids that is) I can finally get rid of said pile and its back with vengence mocking me the very next day!
However I have found a way that speeds up (well seems to) the hour plus job it is when I finally decide to tackle the pile.
I stand to do it at the kitchen table, I guess the not sitting helps with not getting distracted and I put my Ipod on so kids cant distract me and I go hell for leather till its all done.
It doesnt help with the hating it but it makes the experience a little less loathesome

Shower. Cleaning the shower. Ugh, so disgusting. Maybe because we let is get disgusting but eww I hate it.

ETA: To get it done, I make DH do it Seriously. Its the one thing I do not do.

Folding the washing however, love it! Feels like I'm accomplishing a little task every item that is neatly folded and stacked. Sense of achievement!

Maybe you gals could come clean my shower and I'll fold all your washing?

Grocery shopping...so stupid, you take the item off the shelf put it in the trolley, take it out of the trolley put it on the conveyor belt, take it off the belt thing put it back in the trolley, then take it to the car, take it out of the car put it away.
    Too much handling, totally exhausting!

Cleaning the shower because I basically have to stand in there and clean it. So annoying.

I'd rather clean the toilet, which is dead easy. After I mop I just pour the bucket down the toilet. It's got either demestos or pineocleen in it.
    Makes the toilet all sparkly!!

Cleaning the high chair. I despise it, how one child can hide enough weetbix to feed a small army amazes me. Just when I think I'm finished, I discover another section of wedged in food (sadly, usually from at least 2 days ago). I spray the crap out of it and wipe it down just before his next meal. And feed him on the floor/outside whenever I can. And chuck a huge tanty so DH takes it outside and hoses it down. I'm going to have the only child that goes ''noooooo, not another picnic!"

Definately the shower! I'll clean everything else, do the ironing, mow the lawn, wash the outside bins all to avoid doing the shower!

Mopping the flooors. We have huge amounts of tiled floors and combined with two kids, a cat and a dog they are constantly covered in muddy foot/paw prints, sticks/leaves the dog brings in, fluff, fur and who knows what sticky stuff. I wouldn't mind doing it so much if it actually stayed looking clean for longer than, oh, I don't know, 3.5 minutes!!! Most of the time it gets done cos I'm worried we're going to catch bubonic plague if I don't

CK - I'm MUCH closer to you than OP. I'll happily fold your washing if you wash my floors ;-) Love folding the washing. Find it a bit therapeutic.

Ironing- How do I get it done? I dont!! I refuse to iron unless it is a shirt for DH for a wedding/silver service dinner.

Washing- I dont really fold, just pop it on a hanger or in the correct drawer. We have lots of hanging space If Im in the mood I sometimes put the shirts and tops on hangers when they are weet then hang them on the washing line, easy to put away then

Filing bills and sorting mail. I have now made the majority of our bills ebills so I dont have the bits of paper sitting in my paper tray in the study waiting to be sorted

I'm with Onyx. Housework. I hire a cleaner.

BUT I'll admit I still do a bit of cleaning around the place, and the thing that makes it bearable is GADGETS. Having the right "thing" to clean with makes all the difference. Shower-cleaning haters, you need one of those diamond shaped shower scrubber tools on a stick. So much more civilised than climbing in there to clean.

Here's a tip to help you sort the laundry:

Dump all the washing on your bed (so you have to sort it before you can sleep again) and sort it into quick piles, your stuff, Dh's stuff, the kid's stuff and the linen/towels.

Put the kids stuff back in the basket. Now fold and hang your stuff and put it away neatly. Then shove Dh's stuff away, inside out and unfolded because I guarantee he wont even notice, and then fold the linen and put it away, then take the kids stuff to their rooms and hang out with your kids while they play and you fold and hang their stuff, somewhat neatly but don't overdo it because they'll have their cupboards in a mess in 3 minutes anyway.

    Tada, job done

Ps. Who can be bothered ironing?

I like folding washing ... I put it all on the couch, with 4 baskets on the floor in front of me (DH, DS, me, linen/towells) and I put on a DVD, and it's 90 minutes of me time

But I hate vacuuming. No idea why, but I truly hate it. The way I get it done is by asking DH to do it. He hates cleaning the toilet, so I think it's good swap (toilet takes 2 minutes, vacuuming can take an hour!! but he hates it so much he doesn't care about the time - he just doesn't want to do it ...). I don't think I've done a full vacuum in our new place more than once or twice, and we've been there for about 4 years.

    I hate gardening.

Those of you who are my FB friends will know how much I love clean floors.

I also hate cleaning the shower. And ironing.

I fold my washing straight off the line or out of the dryer. Then it goes away straight away. My mother has Mt Foldmore and I hated it growing up.

    Gardening. Bah.
