I'm looking for a hotel recommendation in city centre Melbourne for my 65 year old Mother who will be travelling alone. I wouldn't want to spend more than $130 a night. Any ideas greatly welcomed.....thank you.
I think you will be hard pressed finding somewhere for only that much a night in the CBD. I've been looking to book accommodation for myself for a trip to melb next year and the going rate seems to be around the $150p/n mark. have you had a look on wotif, gostay and lastminute? They occasionally have some good deals and you can see all motels at once for price comparisons.
Check out Wotif ASAP. They had a decent 24 hour sale (started yesterday) with a selection of hotels at bargain prices in Melbourne.
We have stayed at a few of the Mantra establishments (apartments) and always got them at a good price.
Mantra on Russell was our most recent one and, it's a bit more than you asked for, but at $159 a night for a lovely one bedroom apartment in a great location, it's a steal.
Taurean, slightly OT, but what was your experience of booking a room through wotif? I know I suggested to look on there, but then I usually call the motels directly and then book that way. I was looking at staying at the Mantra on Jolimont. DO they ever screw up your booking?
They've always been great We've booked with them many times, we do quite a lot of traveling (I'm an ex travel agent too). It's a very easy system to use. Highly recommend it and nope, our booking has never been stuffed up. I find we often get a better deal like a free bottle of wine, late checkout, etc that the hotel doesn't offer directly.
Sign up for their emails notifications if you don't get them already then you get the heads up on all the good deals as soon as they're released.
