I didnt know there was a three day method but the successful attempt with both girls only took 3 days each time any way I tried earlier with both girls and they werent re4ady so waited a couple of months then we had success
I read the 3 day thing and adopted bits of it (never did staying at home for three days solid) - she has been TT in the day for a couple of months - overnight it depends on how early I am prepared to get up - if I get up as soon as she wakes up will be dry but if I let her read and sing etc before I go in then tends to be wet.
Personally I am not that convinced by the 3 day thing, as we had 3 successful days in a row but then would have problems a week later for a couple of days - so I could have said she is TT in 3 days but really she wasn't - was a bit of backwards forwards process - am sure some people do have success in 3 days and never go backwards but if you do isn't a failure and don't need to give up entirely in my opinion.
I wouldn't say it isn't worth buying as there are some interesting points in there, but it is very very prescriptive and I don't think you need to follow it rigidly - I would be tempted if you are already on day 2 - just to go with what you are doing.
Just did the 3 day Toilet Training (Lora Jensen), started yesterday so its the end of day 2 for us, and we have had massive success. I followed it to the letter though. First day was EXHAUSTING as I was basically following DS around ALL day. He had loads of accidents Day 1 - changed his jocks about 25 times. Then after his bath he was dry, dry all night (no nappy) and went to the loo when he got up and did a massive wee, then about an hour or so later he took himself to the loo and dropped #2s. He's had one accident today and taken himself to the loo each and every time and has it all worked out now, even did another #2 all by himself on the toilet. He can take off and put his own jocks on, walked into the bathroom and washes his hands even, we are totally amazed. Tonight he even said to me "Well done Mummy" when he saw me on the loo PMSL
Big fan of the 3 day method here, but I think you need to follow it very very closely
Another 3DPTer here. I didn't follow it exactly..... I followed most of the main points but found adapting it to suit me and my children worked. My DS was 3 when we trained him and he was wee trained in 4 hours (no more wee accidents after that),and poo trained totally within 2 weeks.
I tried again in June this year when DD was 24 months old, and she got it totally down pat within 8 days. Wees again only took a few hours, the poos were the more difficult, but 8 days was nothing.
Not doing nappies anymore is AWESOME!!
I've made a few threads in here... just search for my username for more in depth answers, but I'm all for the 3dpt program.
Yep, we did it here, 100% wee trained in two days. Poo is still not going in the toilet, but we'll get there. Had three dry nights followed by 4 wet ones. I think two were because I didn't get up as soon as he was awake, but last night was a middle of the night wet after a late wee. I guess sometimes it's not 100%. If the poo doesn't fix itself soon, I think we'll be putting a night nappy back on, I can only deal with one series of accidents a day!
We tried it with my DD. Stuck by it to a tee. If you have a very strong willed child, it may not be for you. I liked what I read, felt confident in the method and knew DD was ready. What I didn't expect was her to hold on. She held her wee for 22 hours and her poo for six days. We did it for six days all up and in the end we were all exhausted, miserable and frustrated. She was complaining of a sore tummy all week and was highly agitated with a huge amount if violent physical tantrums. We've returned to nappies at night and undies during the day and are working on re-teaching DD that it's okay to wee and poo when she needs too instead of holding on. She's happier.
I really wanted it to work and I'm hoping she will have retained some of the things learned so I won't rule it out as a complete failure here.....yet
Oh my gosh! That's amazing PacRak! How old was she when you tried it? My man was 28 months and while he's strong willed, he wasn't aware enough of weeing yet to have a problem with the program. Poor little girl - 22 hours without a wee! Ouch. I hope it's improving for you now, it IS exhausting.
we're going to try it soon - would really, *really* love to have DS out of nappies before Ziggy arrives, but DS is still reasonably hit-and-miss in terms of telling us when he's done a poo or a wee ...
I didn't do the three day method. I have been trying for about 6 months to TT DD1, with no success mainly because she ws to young and didn't get it. I really didn't think she realized what it feels like to need to go. All it took was for her to do a wee on the potty by herself and something just clicked. Within a week was completely trained during the day with no accidents, and mainly done by herself. I still put nappies on overnight, and if she can be dry overnight for about a week, I will take them off as well.
It isn't so bad having two in nappies, I have been doing it for 16 months!
I did two lots of nappies for just over 2 months I guess, wasn't too bad. But if you can tt before #2 arrives, it would be great as it's going through that process with a newborn that was hard work! Thankfully DD is a pretty cruisy kid, but concentrating 99% of your attention on one of your kids leads to some mummy guilt!
I've had a parent mention they are going to be using this - but their child is showing no interest, very full wet nappies, poos and never telling you when it's full etc. What's the general gist of the book for how to know when the child is ready.
