I need some bathers for DD. MIL sent her some, but a) they look way too small and B) .....it's a bikini. I mean, far out. It's the skimpiest little thing you've ever seen. In a size 00!! I'm happy to put them on her for the bath or something just to take a picture to send to the lady, but there's no way DD is going outside in a bikini.
So, I really want some long sleeved, long legged togs that cover as much skin as possible. She's very fair skinned like me, I burn just by looking outside and I know she'll be the same.
DD is sitting between a 00 and 0 so I'd be looking for a size 0.
Any ideas where I can get some??
I had a look, but they're out of stock for the one that I want. And they're sitting around $50, funds just aren't allowing us to spend that much on something that she may only wear a handful of times.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
You might be surprised by how much protection the short sleeved, short legged swimsuits offer. They are WAY better than regular swimmers and as a PP said, if you put plenty of sunscreen on the other bits of skin she should be right. At her age she's not likely to want to be in the water too long (tiny bodies get cold pretty quickly) so you could just get one from anywhere really - we got a $10 one from Best & Less! - to use for water play, then dress her in long cotton pants for playing in the sand etc.
I found long legged long sleeved difficult to get too, I did get one ( was pricey but thought I really need it but on reflection have since got other just short sleeved short legged ones from Target, the legs are not that short so go down to knee, and cover up the bits that burn really easy (shoulders, thighs, exposed bum etc) and what is left is really easy to put plenty of sun screen on. They are also often the sort of thing that you find in Op shops.
I bought a long sleeved rashie and will continue looking for some pants for her. If push comes to shove, I'll just put a light pair of pants on her when she's not in the water.
We're planning to go to the beach this summer, so I wanted some protection for her.
But, even if she's in her blow up pool I still want to make sure she's well covered.
They are so hard to find! Best and less have them and sometimes target but theirs are expensive. You would think they would be easier to get in our climate.
You could find a pair of slightly larger board shorts with a draw string waist. They will probably cover down to her ankles. Matched with a long sleeved rashie will provide good coverage.
I was looking for bathers when I was pregnant with him so I stocked up on a few tops. The only trouble is he is growing too fast! I got some from op shops, some from eBay and some from Target in Winter. It is something I always keep an eye out for at the op shops.
