Quick update: I did a thank you letter for my m/w today, and I went out and got photos printed (immediately after the birth I could not have looked more overjoyed). She had her first ever c/s from a HB yesterday, so I think a pick me up was well in order.
Hannah was weighed today (8 days old) and came in, with just a nappy, at 3.1 kgs! So even accounting for the nappy she's put on about 250 gms already! I knew she was feeding well and gaining, but even I was surprised.
Hi girls. I was looking in the wrong place on my phone for this thread. Nice to see u both.
Well my milk came in last night! OMG! So much milk! I had to express last night to go to bed cos I was rock hard! Luckily massive has fed non stop since about 3:45 am and helped me feel a bit more comfortable. How is everyone else going?
Hi Ryatha and Bella! Good to have some company. Congrats Ryatha, on Lucas' early arrival - did he take you by surprise?
Bella - the second night after my milk came in I could only sleep on my back! I took some anti-inflammatories the next night because I woke up with such a sore back from that. It settled down pretty quickly this time around, thank goodness. No my bbs just know when she's due to be fed!
Thanks to all the day feeding and weight gain H is sleeping from around 10.30pm until 3am, and then waking again at 5am. At least, she has for two nights, but it could all change tonight. Lol
Well after a day and a half I can feel my milk starting to come in. He either wants bb all the time - like for 6 hrs straight or sleeps. He's sleeping at the moment and is making those adorable newborn noises
Nawwwww it's so cute those noises ryatha! Maddie snorts and snuffles for boob too. She finally woke up yesterday. By that I mean woke for longer than it took to have a boob. So in love here
Having a bit of over supply here. So engorged! Put one of those milk catching cups over the breast that wasn't feeding from today and got 35mls of let down! That is a serious amount of extra breast milk in my opinion. And I am still really uncomfortable 2 hrs later because I haven't pumped yet.... Not sure whether I will offer to pump for a premmie or not. See what happens.
H is now wanting two sides per feed, so my engorgement has completely disappeared. My bbs are now starting to signal when she should be due for a feed. Only downside is she has a bellyache for a few mins after she's finished (no wonder - little guts!). I swear she's growing right before my eyes!
She's a bit of a doll, really. Completely biased, of course, but very sweet!
Pretty bad engorgement here too, milk came in night before last and am pretty happy to have a toddler to help out. DD1 only has a morning and bedtime feed but it is very precious watching them feed together, DD1 puts her arm around DD2 aww.
Jellyfish dd is asking for boobies agin. She had a feed last night and requested again at today at nap time. I haven't decided what to do yet so just playing by ear. I don't want to start what I can't maintain. Am pumping ATM to relieve discomfort tho. Getting about 200 ml per day easy with one pump session plus what I collect in letdown catchers.
my first little one arrived later than schedule and was born on 7th Jan. Have just been getting my self sorted and together so have been MIA from BellyBelly for the week. He was born by C/S due to postdates and my cervix not opening and him moving from being engaged to moving back up away from Pelvis... he was just too comfy in there apparently.
breastfeeding seems to be going well. he weighed 3350 at birth, 3150 at day three and 3270 on day five so he was gaining weight well and my milk had come in. He seems to feed every 3-4 hours sometimes last a bit longer. but generally a happy boy. Today he has been feeding a little closer together during the day 2.5-3 hours but im thinking this could be a little growth spurt he is having. He is a guzzler too so he tends to choke a bit on the milk cuz i think he is just eating soo quickly. not sure if there is anything i can do to stop this happening?
We had our first outing the other night for hubbys dads bday and feeding timed really well with feeding just before we left at 530 and then we managed to go out, have dinner and get home and feed him again before bed at 930pm. It was great to take him out and use the pram and feel like a real family. Hubby looked very cute pushing the pram!
im not sure i will be much help to all you mums as you seem to be second timers but hopefully you will be able to offer me advice as i go along learning more about my little man and what he needs.
U can join us anyway hotI! I join a group 16 earlier than my dd's bday because everyone in my due date group was in it. So feel welcome honey to join us.
Well it's been an eventful day here. DS fed for ages last night building up my supply but I was suffering without sleep so they popped him in the nursery for a little while. I slept then woke feeling awful, sick headachey achey and everything. He luckily stayed asleep and I got more sleep and feel better today.
My milk is slowly coming in which is nice, but no engorgement or anything. He finally seemed fullish after the last feed so I know at least he is getting some. They weighed him today and he has lost more than 10% of his birth weight so trying to boost my supply with extra feeds and expressing.
My parents brought my DD's in today and I coped for 2 hours with them. It gives me hope that when I get home things are going to be ok for the 4 of us. Ok, will be back during the next quiet.
Hope all is going well for you new mummies
Sent from an iThing so will be short and shiny cause I hate the keyboard.
Engorgement is starting to settle down already. My midwife said that your body sort of remembers how to do things so hopefully I won't have the oversupply issues that I had with DD1. That lasted for about 3-4 months! Imogen is gaining weight well. She only lost 180g by day 3 but gained it back plus 40g by day7. She is a much more efficient feeder than DD1. Last night she was up to 4 hours between feeds - I hope she keeps that up!
