What happens with the stationary in year 1 in your school?
Does everything go into a pool and the whole class share everything? Or do you keep all your own stuff and if so, is it kept at the school or do you bring it in as you need it? My DD1 is starting Year 1 at a private school this year and they haven't given us any info yet. I was just wondering what everyone else does.
Our school (NSW) supplies everything they need except for a homework book and folder which you have to get yourself. Of course you can get them pencils/textas etc, but that isn't really necessary either.
Maybe you can contact the school and ask or se if they have that info on their website?
both the primary school I enquired at (private ones) supplied the essentials, you jour pay additional in your school fees. AFA public, I believe from year 1 they keep their stuff in their desk.
My kids are at a private school. All stationary requirements are provided until Grade 5 when they supply their own. They have their own set of pencils, textas etc which live on their desks.
My DD was in year one last year. She goes to an independent school. We pay a fee to cover stationery and books, at the start of the year (I think it was $140 last year). The school then supplies all the pencils, coloured pencils, textas, a dictionary, workbooks, etc. The students are allowed to bring home their stationery at the end of each term. I like this system of standardised stationery - all the kids have the same things, so there are no issues with some kids having the 'cooler' or more expensive pencils!
I have had to buy her booklist which was $240 of stationary, books etc for Year 1. It is a big box and quite heavy and I was just wondering if I have to take all of it to school on the first day. Surely they can't keep so much stuff at the school? eg she had 12 glue sticks, times that by 34 in the class, that's alot of glue sticks to stick in a cupboard somewhere.
Have you met the teachers yet? DDs school hasn't contacted us as yet but there will be a day before the term starts that we go and find her new classroom and meet the teacher - usually that is when we take all the supplies in. You will need to probably cover and label and books in the pack though.
Hopefully you'll receive some information before school starts.
