    clothing sizes

ok, I hope I word this right...

What size clothing was your baby/child in for the longest? Like what did you get the most use out of? I'm mainly referring to 0000/000/00 etc..

    thanks =)

I got about a month of use out of a couple of 00000 things I had, about 3 or so months use out of 0000 but I think the best I got most use from (iykwim) was 00 and 0 - which DS was in till bout 16/17 months (but also still fit comfortably in as well as 1's)

But, having said that, it all depends on the clothes themselves. Some places sell small 0000 and some are on the larger scale of the 0000 area (for newborns for example)

Dd1 was a premmie, she started in 000000 and was in 0000 for about three months, she was in 000 for over a year!

Dd2 was in 000 two weeks after she was born, mostly because of her length. She was in 00 for about 8 months.

Ds was a fast grower he spent a few weeks each in 0000 and 000, a couple of months each in 00 and 0. By 10 months he was well and truly getting into 1's, but he is still in ones now at 16 months.

I think it really depends on your bub (not much help). DD was just under 6pds when born....so she was in 00000 foe five weeks, 0000 for three months and 000 for ages.....00 for ages but she is still pretty petite so I got alot of wear out of her clothes.

I know my sisters little girl is 1yr and she is already in 0-1 so really wasnt in anything too long.

My DD was in 0000 until she was 4 months and was in 000 for a couple and then 00 for ages. She's still in 0 and wears some size 1.

I only orignally bought a few items in each size incase she didn't need them. A week after she was born we went out and bought a heap of 0000's and a few weeks later we needed more.

Things like body suits, singlets and even jumpsuits are good if you have them bigger as they will last longer.

Mine were big babies 8lb13 and 10lb and only in 0000 for about a week! Really depends! Would say they were in 00 the longest maybe?

I am with Tanstar..00 the longest. 0000 the shortest (mine lasted anywhere from a few days to a 2-3wks) and 000 (they were in for around 2mths or so depending on size of baby.

    00 the longest, by far.

DD1 came home from the hospital in 000, was in them for maybe 3 months. Then she was still wearing 00 at 1 year old. We skipped 0 and went straight to 1.

    Varies wildly between children.

    DD - 00000: two weeks
    0000: about 3 months
    000: same
... Then I don't remember but I know she was in a few 1s by her first birthday but they were baggy. She's long and lanky

    DS - 0000: 2 weeks
    000 - about 6 weeks
He is now 4 months and is wearing 0 / 00 ... I find there's quite a lot of variation between brands so he's even in a couple of 1s. He's my 95% percentile Chunky Monkey though, so he's in these bigger sizes very early!

I think it's probably best to just wait and see how big bub is and how quickly they grow. Had I planned ahead I would have bought more stuff for the cooler months that he never would've used and would never have dreamed that he'd need size 0 t-shirts.

Neither of mine wore 0000 for more than a day (e.g. put them in first day and were too small) both over 4kg bubs.

It also depends on the item - my DS is like Santosha's and he isn't six months and he is in some 1's - his body is very long so if anything does up under crotch he needs really big sizes, tops and jackets etc he could still wear 00. Jackets in particular seem sized big and with long arms (DD wore a 000 jacket whole of her first year). Brands really vary I have a short sleeved onesie from GAP which is a hand me down and is size 18M to 24M and it fits my 6 month old (it must have shrunk a little).

Stuff with feet in them have a more limited shelf life (I cut them off sometimes (the feet off the suits that is :-)).

I don't buy much but am always in a rush it seems to get some wear out of the stuff people give us as sizing is so difficult - or we get bought bigger stuff but then is the wrong season.

If I had to pick a size I would say 00.

DS was 5pd12oz so was in 00000 at birth for almost a month, 0000 for a few months, then 000 for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages eg 6months +, seemed to grow through 00 and 0 quick, then size 1 for more than 12 months

DD was in premmie clothes for a few weeks, 00000 til 11 weeks, is 13 months now and is still going between 000 and 00. But she's teeny.

Just wanted to pop in and tell you that Kmart sizing is bigger than Target. We had heaps of issues with that, DD was in Target clothes for ages as Kmart was just too massive.
I think she was nearly in Target 000 while she still in Kmart 00000.

    Thanks for the replies everyone!!

I'm not buying anything, but I'm starting to sort through the boxes and boxes of clothes Starbright has given me, and I was curious. But it is handy to know anyway, because I do see some really cute novelty outfits that i wouldn't mind having for fun, but don't know what size is best to get them in!

As with Kmart being bigger than Target- Pumpkin patch sizing is huge!
I think bonds sizing runs on the smaller side also.

For my DD 00 and 0 the longest.

From memory (it's been a while) 000-00. Dd was in 0000 for the first four weeks (she was 7ld5oz and 49.5 cms long) then she was a slow grower (still is actually)
