    Ear Injury

DD1 fell off a plank of wood and hit her ear on 1 of DP's tradies boxes.

Within seconds her ear was bruised and she has a lump behind her ear that was also bruised, she has a cut that bled slightly & stopped.

We iced it, then walked down to the chickens, she seemed a little of balance & said she felt dizzy.

This happened about an hr ago, she seems fine now, no complaints of being dizzy but she says it hurts and when DD2 yells she says it hurts.

What damage can she do to her ear? It's bruised so I know that will he sore but should I worry about anything else?
    She's had nurofen.

contact nurse on call hun - get them to assess over the phone - i think if she's complaining when DD2 yells, i'd be talking to someone to see if they think she needs to be assessed. the dizzy thing is a worry too. there are bones in the ears, eardrum, there are many things that could have happened - or it could simply be because she's had a blow to the head. i would always err on the side of caution and get some advice.

Thanks ladies, we kept an eye on her last night and she seemed ok but was still complaining this morning and when DD2 was yelling that it was hurting.

Took her to the GP who advised it's just severe bruising and swelling & the ear really is the worst place to have bruising like that, it may be like this up to 2 weeks and it may even turn black
Poor mite has to be on nurofen & panadol for the next 2 days and he said not to worry if she feels a little dizzy as the pain can affect her ear, the eardrum is intact and unless she starts vomitting or complaining of a headache outside of the ear not to worry.

I hate seeing her like this, she's asking for more nurofen but she can't, I'm alternating b/w nurofen & panadol as it is

I'm going to the chemist friday to see if maybe some numbing cream would help her, so she can sleep better?

Just saw this - so sorry she's hurting hun, nothing worse than seeing our kids like that. Is it still really bruised and swollen? Would something like arnica cream help? I think it's used for bruising. Poor darling hope you can find something to help xoxoxo

'severe bruising' was the term the Dr used, think all the chemists will be closed tomorrow & I didn't think about it today will go Friday.
Will try & upload a pic tomorrow, can't do it from my phone.

ZF, give her the panadol and neurofen together - it will give a longer lasting and better pain relief. It is safe to give both together.

I'm giving them every 3hrs. Nurofen then panadol then nurofen etc etc.
Dr said its the best way to give her longer cover IYKWIM.
