    Bento

Have been looking for Bento boxes. Have finally found a great site in Melbourne:

Bento Boxes & Bento Box Sets

Been googling heaps and heaps of Japanese recipes and I cant wait to make the bento boxes.

Does anyone else here make them? Thanks Caz:

I use Bento boxes heaps with the kids. I bought one proper one and tend to re-use take away ones every time we order from the local take-away.

I don't use them for serving Japanese food specifically, but use them to deliver an interesting (and hopefully balanced) diet. I just serve a variety of food in them from sandwiches to pasta, fruit, yoghurt, rice, tuna, dips, whatever I feel like cooking. My kids love them! I also find them really handy if I am leaving the kids with a babysitter for a meal. I can pre-prepare their lunch/dinner and the babysitter can just serve up the meal.

As a matter of fact, I don't think I have ever served a Japanese meal in our Bento boxes even though I cook Japanese food regularly! Must look into that

BTW for ideas, I highly recommend 'Laptop lunches' There are heaps of great ideas for packing bento style lunches on their website. I can't believe I survived my schooling on vegimite sandwiches when I look at those ideas!
