Pasta is ok but I don't think you should freeze rice. It is the leading cause of food poisoning![]()
I'm making some meals for a friend of mine whose husband was killed in a motorbike accident a few weeks ago. So far I've made a Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, Spaghetti Bol and a Beef and Red Wine Casserole. Should I make the rice and pasta and dish them up in dinner sized portions and freeze it that way or just freeze the sauces on their own and leave it up to her to make the pasta/rice to go with it? I'd prefer to have the whole meal ready to go so she doesn't have to do a thing but I don't know how well pasta/rice thaws.
Thanks in advance![]()

I agree with N2L. If you're making pasta from scratch, it actually ends up being nicer once it's been frozen (IMO anyway!). To get around the rice, maybe pick up a couple of those microwavable rice packets so all she needs to do is whack it in to heat.
I freeze rice all the time - just make sure that you cool it quickly once t's cooked (preferably in the fridge) and that it gets reheated thoroughly.
Rice works perfectly frozen. Well, i only ever freeze Basmati it's all i seem to have. Good to know though N2l.
ETA - snap Pholi!
Sorry, I was in a rush before

Good link. They didn't say anything about freezing, but i guess as long as you do like they say, then it's ok.
I can go now, i've learnt something new for today.
