Bellini Multifunction Kitchen Machine/Intelli Kitchen Master

Has anyone been game enough to buy one? What are your experiences with it?

I have a TMX but I'm just slightly curious about this new machine and if it shapes up to the TMX that Bellini have blatantly copied, they couldn't even remove the Thermomix references in their products recipe book.

I have not seen one yet, (TMX owner here too) but there is some seriously worrying stuff about them online - They failed US Safety standards, so Target have shipped them here instead, the blades will run with out the lid on. They are already banned in the EU because of the patent infringment.

ETA: No scales is not crisis but i would think no reverse would be limiting.

I've just googled them. There are some reviews on blogs. It looks like it can do the job, with adaptation. Like the Thermochef, it's probably a good option for people who can't afford a TMX. It won't last as long, but sometimes that's the choice you have to make. We recently replaced our washing machine and wanted a Miele but couldn't afford one. We got a Samsung instead for 1/4 of the price. We'll have to replace it sooner but it was a cash flow decision.

One safety concern on the Bellini is that you can turn the speed right up with hot ingredients, which you can't with the TMX. instead of slowly increasing the speed like the TMX, there's a risk of hot liquid spilling out. Apparently it can't sense the temperature either, which will restrict some things.

I've heard of consistent burnt spots on the bottom (even when making custard) and the spatula melting when used with hot food. Both those would be enough to put me off.
The blades spin without the lid being on? Wow that is scary scary stuff.

I just scanned the manual and it seems it won't work without the lid being locked on so that should be ok.

I did a lot of research on the difference between Thermochef and TMX before buying as it was hard to justify the $2k. What won me over was the technology and manufacture as well as the reverse function, which we've since found really important.

I've burnt the bottom of the TMX a couple of times. It may be a learning thing. In the end, you get what you pay for. What gets me is what a blatant copy ithe Bellini is - even to the spatula.

I wonder if Thermomix may finally drop their prices? With the Australian dollar being so high against the Euro, it shouldn't be as expensive as it is. I'm just thankful we got one when we did, because we couldn't buy one now.

L&B-the ones i head about were faulty, the manual says it wont work with out the lid on but they did.
A friend of mine just had a horrible experience with Thermochef.. doesn't look like anyone can come up with a decent competitor.

Are there any more recent reviews on this? I just put one on laybuy today...

I noticed the no-reverse thing has been mentioned a few times here. Why is this important? I've never needed reverse on any kitchen gadget I've ever had, what is it even used for?

Very interested as I have been tempted to buy one as I can't afford a Thermomix no matter how much I would love one.

TB - the reverse comes in useful when cooking things like risotto. So the rice isn't cut up whilst cooking. Whilst putting it on low speed can reduce that happening, it doesn't rule it out and you increase the chance of burning the bottom of the bowl.

It can do the same when cooking other things that you want to maintain the size or shape. Such as diced meat or veggies or pasta.

You can get the TMX on finance

A new competitor on the market is the Hot Mix Pro. Some of it's functions make it better than the TMX, such as being able to set a specific temperature. One model goes up to 190 I think, so you could cook toffee, for example, which you can't really do in the tMX as it doesn't get hot enough.

I was looking at the Bellini one. Now I'm thinking again!

They are on special at the moment. I wish thermo mixers were cheaper. My hubby has told me 2k on a kitchen gadget is not happening. even if it its so easy to cook with. :-( sad sad panda here!
