Should I get DS reviewed by GP

    Hi all,
DH & I are having a difference of opinions at the moment as to whether to get DS1 reviewed by a GP or not.
He is 2 1/2yrs and is normally an extremely active little boy who we couldn't get to sit still for the life of me. Over the last week or two he has become whingey ALL the time, just wanting to be cuddled ALL the time, tired and wanting to have sleeps and falling asleep by 7pm each night (before he was active all day and went to bed at 7.30pm with no day sleep), he is paler than normal, he isn't eating as much and just generally off most of the day.
We have had a new additon (born mid dec) so not sure if that is something to do with it too.
I'm not sure what a review would do? I don't think there is anything medically wrong with him so i'm hesitant to take him to the dr.

What do you think? I know it's hard without seeing him but just after a general consesus and opinions.

Really not sure what to do .

    TIA,
    Dan.

I would take him to the GP. He sounds like my little boy if he was wanting to be cuddled and not running around much I'd think he was coming down with something. He may be just adjusting to the new addition but can't hurt to have him looked at.

Hope he's back to his old self very soon

I'd get him checked. Just to rule out illness as a cause. If you aren't keen on going to a dr, you could try a naturopath?

I'd take him too Dan. If it was just a day or two I'd not think twice about it but going on for a week or two its worth getting checked.

Could be that he's just going through a growth spurt or something and that's taking a physical toll on him. Are his tonsils playing up again maybe?

Sounds just like my DD who is the same age (I posted a couple of days ago about the same type of issues).

I was concerned something might have been wrong but she has perked up abit now but is still not eating very well, so I've put it down to a growth spurt her need to sleep and lack of energy at the moment. My concern that she may have had a UTI as she did have a bit of a fever the other day, but a dose of panadol brought that down and she hasn't had a fever or any other symptoms of illness.

If you are concerned I would get him checked out.

I'd take him to a GP, but I'm always over cautious. Tired and pale would probably be a trigger for me to get him checked out. It maybe nothing but peace of mind would help me. I always say 'no one regrets going to the doctor, but people sometimes regret not going'. Anyhow, that just my philosophy on getting medical opinions.

you know what I think. but I'll tell ya again anyway

I think you should book him in with the GP and ask for a full blood work up. The change in mood, appetite, and lethargy worries me. It could be something as simple as being a bit low in iron. Get a blood run and see what they say hon.

P.S. I don't think it has anything to do with H's arrival.

    Thanks for you support/suggestions ladies.
I took him to our GP today and she was great. I told her I was here on a mothers instinct and she said she trusts mothers instinct more than anything. If a mum says there is something wrong and it's just a matter of finding it.
She went over him from head to toe - he was such a good boy. He let her do everything she needed - so proud.
Two things - his right ear is really inflammed and he is pale (along with his mucous membranes being pale). She is fairly convinced that he has an infection in his sinus next to his ear which hides itself.
She asked me if I trusted her instinct - yep - so we have two plans. First is he is going to have a course of ab's and hopefully this will fix him up. If it doesn't then he has to have a full blood work up. We are trying to avoid having him jabbed if we can. So we are going to give it a week and if no improvement in this time or if he gets worse we are to get the blood tests.
We also are starting him on a multivitamin so if he does have low iron hopefully this will start fixing that too.
Guess it's just a wait and see.
Thanks so much for your support and encouraging me to trust my instincts.

Glad it all went so well. Hopefully the abs will do the job and he'll be back to his normal self in no time.

thats great, your gp sounds like she has her head screwed on. fx the antibiotics fix everything and he perks up again and there are no needles involved!!!

Nothing like those mummy instincts - glad your doctor was so understanding. Hopefully the AB's knock it on the head quickly.
