A lady came over this morning to evaluate the house. We had a guy come over a few weeks after we moved in and he just walked around ticking a sheet and writing notes. This lady asked questions and took photos.
I was wondering if that is normal procedure?
The questions she asked were things like is there a ensuite, what water system we had, heating/cooling and how much the rent was. She also asked if we liked the area.
Sounds normal to me. Sounds like she was just more chatty than the first bloke and was asking you stuff off the same sheet except maybe for the last bit about liking the area.
Sounds like person 1 is going to valuate and see if you want to go with them.
Person 2 is going to make a brochure including your quotes and then push you to use them as they have already done the work.
Having had an almost identical experience selling a home last year, we went with the less pushy people. We were put off buying a home through pushy people as well, as they were constantly calling with inappropriate houses for us to see (the area we said we didn't want, small gardens, no garage, overpriced...) and pushing us to see houses that were completely unsuitable when we turned up - things like being poorly extended and needed a lot of work to put right, but that wasn't reflected in the price.
If they were valuers from a real estate agent, they tend to ask questions to help determine the selling points (ie. Best features) in order to help advertise the property.
The other may have been a commercial appraiser who more interested in the bricks and mortar.
