..I dont understand how centrelink can control your drivers licence?
but either way that sucks and you really should have been some notice cause yea thats bites!!
Hope you sort it out.
This is a vent! No the people IN centrelink aren't morons, just the one who did this (or the computer)
I just went to change my license info all over to WA. To find out my license is suspended in NSW. I couldn't work out why, but figured I over looked something.
Just got off the phone to SDRO. Centrelink stopped my installments to them back in February. No reason, I certainly didn't cancel them! No letter to let me know either (THEY have my address).
It happened around the same time I changed my address to my current one, & there was a part payment of $7 rather than $10 as the last payment.
I didn't give them notice, SDRO didn't give them notice & now I've been driving around for who knows how long WITH NO LICENSE! Thank God I haven't been pulled over!
All sorted now, but wow. Thanks alot centrelink. Anyone who has any suggestions, feel free to let me know what possible reason they could have for doing this to me. If not, I'll call them on Monday & see what they can tell me.

Does Centrelink do licences in other states? It's transport Dept in Qld (or local police station).
No, we have VicROADS do your licencing (In Victoria)
No, I recieved a fine ages ago. I pay it off by centrepay to the SDRO (state debt recovery office) in NSW.
Cantrelink stopped the payments for no reason. SDRO would normally stop them when they are paid out, but it wasn't even close to paid.
SDRO applies restrictions via the RTA to your license &/or rego if they don't get their payments. They are the people fines go to if not paid within 21 days.
Centrelink don't control licensing, just the payments I was making.
Oh ok - I had no idea what SDRO stood for! So it's like a centrepay payment and it's been cancelled then? That stinks.
ahh makes sense!
totally crappy though..
can you sort it out?
if your payment type changed (i'm assuming Partnered parenting to Single Parenting) the payment system is different - so the deduction may not have automatically carried across.
I'm on carers payment, have been for 12 months & the partnered/single was changed back in December/January. I did think about that, but nope.
hmm no idea then - that was my first thought though
the only other thing that comes to mind is whether your payment was suspended for any time and the payment not reinstated. which would be computer related not staff related. the part payment makes me wonder what went on there. unfortunately, sounds like one you'll have to call up about it to know for sure
No suspension that I know of & I should've known by now!
Yeah, I thought I may have to call up. I'll be doing it on Monday, coz I need to know what happened in case it happens again.
I think I may have an idea. I added a fine to the amount I was paying about 12 months ago. Its possible the original amount was paid out & it was stopped without the other amount being paid, but there's more than the added amount left owing, so it still doesn't make sense.
(For the record, these are fines for no P plates... I'm not as naughty as I sound)
Ha ha, a true rebel leaves her p plates at home![]()
who knows! back when we were students, DHs payments were stopped, as was everyone with the bday of 22/11!!!
