I've been riddled with less than ordinary dreams lately, and I read that it could be due to low blood sugar at bedtime. Common ailments also seem to be leg cramps which have also started to flare again.
I had a chupa chup the other night before bed and found that I didn't dream and had no leg cramps. But lollies before bed aren't ideal and am looking for suggestions as to a late night snack/ drink that could do the job. Would things like OJ fit the bill?
I know it's only a possibility, but am willing to try anything at this point. TIA.
Ive always munched on a big green juicy Granny Smith apple when in bed and UTD. Visitors would open my fridge and half eaten green apples would just fall at their feet ;p
Sorry, thats all that's up my sleeveless top today. xx
Wonder if some coconut water would do the trick? Someone has recommended coconut water as a labour drink for energy. Might burn 'slower' than sugar in fruit or lollies.
Pick something low gi so it releases at a slower rate in your body (instead of a massive sugar hit)
Good things are a piece of low gi toast, milk (I generally have a milo).
Even though dd is diabetic it works in the same principle - slow release carb just before bed to ensure her levels don't drop through the night.
I've had a complete mind blank on what other types of foods (I'll blame the ungodly hour in replying) but will dig out my book tomorrow and let you know of some more
Definitely steer clear of more "sugary" items though, it will give you a quick hit and not sustain you through the night.
Thanks girls. Have tried a few different things this week, but am now thinking that the chuppa chup was coincidental. Have had horrid dreams every night, all seemingly surrounding DH. They're all situations where I can't find him and spend the dream frantically searching for him, or I can see him but can't reach him. Two nights ago I dreamt I busted him snorting drugs (he's never taken drugs in his life) and last night's dream we were caught up in a bombing. It's relentless. I've had one about DD where I woke up crying it was really awful, but thankfully she hasn't been in any of the others.
No wonder I'm so tired, my brain just doesn't stop.
