    Mastitis 3 vs Me 0

I've ended up with mastitis now for a third time. Really don't want to do a third round of antibiotics, especially because this latest one can give the LO projectile vomiting and colic.
    I've tried natural this time:
Got in for ultrasound straight away
    High dose of vitamin c
    Lecithin
    Raw garlic
    Vitamin e and a
    Slept this afternoon
    Massage in the shower

What else can I do?? It's getting beyond ridiculous. I am trying to correct oversupply and my nipples are nearly healed but I must be missing something!

    Bummer little o

Try changing your breast pads more frequently

Not sure what else. You seem to be doing all the right things!

Is it happening in the same spot? Is your bra too tight?
    Hope your supply settles soon

Oh, little O, I'm so sorry to read this! Was hoping things might have settled down for you.

Some mums find it can take up to 6 weeks for their supply to fully settle. Once your boobs work out how much milk your little one needs, your supply should stabalise nicely and that should help.

What position are you feeding in? Do you notice - does it start with a sore spot? Red breast? One breast over the other?

No I've had it in turns. Left, right now left again and each time a different spot. I though last time it could have been my bra so I have been wearing a different one.
This time it is on the left side, on the top left of the breast. I can't even position her to get her chin to work on it!

It starts with a bruised sore spot which then develops in the Red swollen area. Then the fever and chills.

Oh ouch You are really having a rough time of it I think you are wonderful for hanging in there.

How long does it take from when you notice the sore spot through to the fever/chills?

Sore spots are generally blocked ducts. Sometimes feeding in different positions can help drain the blockage, before it turns into mastitis. Massage in the shower can help. Massage while feeding can also help. Just rub it gently from the outside down towards the nipple.

Do you think DD is fully draining each breast when she feeds? ETA: not fully draining as in not a single drop of milk left, but draining so that you don't still feel full and uncomfortable, do you get what I mean?

Well I noticed a tender feeling Tuesday night during a feed, Wednesday morning was the bruised, slightly pink appearance, Wednesday evening the chills started then fever.
This time there seems to be a lump just top left of the nipple which is the red area, then the tenderness and swelling follows out in lines under my arm and toward my shoulder.
Really don't know how to position her to get rid of it.

I have been trying to make sure it feels soft after and massage while I feed. Luckily she's oblivious to it all.
The stuff I took yesterday seems to have helped. Because the flu like symptoms are gone, just the red sore breast now. Also my lymph nodes in my armpit have gone down which is good because they were painful!

Sorry to hear what you're going through. It's hard enough looking after a new baby, without being in pain. Hope it clears up for you soon
