    Paid Parental Leave Work Test

Ok I am hoping someone can help me with this! I have been on hold with Centrelink for so long and it doesnt look like I will be getting through anytime soon....

In regards to the Paid Parental Leave Work test. The information on the website and forms is a little confusing (To my preggo brain)

Is the 330 hours taken only from the 10 month period (295 days) or the full 13 month period (392 days). The forms say 295 days at first, however an information sheet online says the hours are calculated based on 392 days.

I will just scrape in if it is the 392 days. However if it is the 295 days I will need to ask my employer for more hours. I am not sure they have any more work for me or even if I can take on more hours... my child care situation isnt too reliable and I am not comfortable putting DD into any other care due to her food intolerances... not to even consider I am already struggling with my hips/back and headaches (the joys of pregnancy) so I need to start planning now!

    Thank you in advance!

yes, the hours are based on 392 days - which would assume you worked every day up until the EDD of your child, no periods of leave in there. you have to have worked at least 295 days (10 months) in the period before then.

the reason the days are listed is so that someone (a full time employee for instance) can't work 2 - 3 months at the start of their pregnancy, then take months off work and still meet the test.

    essentially, you have to work

10 months minimum (295 days) in the 13months (392 days) before edd

you also have to work minimum 330 hours

you can't have more than 8 weeks between paid work days in that time

That form is a NIGHTMARE to complete. And then they ask irrelevant questions such as 'Do you own your own home'? Just data gathering for the Govt! I wondered if they wanted my dental records too. Anyway, was just going to ask whether you did the online test to determine which was better- the paid leave or the baby bonus? I thought it was a no-brainer at first, however, we're not that much better off by taking the paid leave, over the baby bonus, once tax is taken out and my paid leave crosses two financial years etc and bumped up my income, blah, blah, blah. If I'd known how painful the paperwork was beforehand, I probably would have opted to apply for the baby bonus.

if you were also claiming FTB, your accommodation status is asked to determine eligibility for rent assistance.
