Tips for getting toddlers to take medicine

My sons temp has been sitting around 40 degrees all night and morning but I'm struggling to get ibuprofen into him.
I've tried syringe into the mouth, medicine cup, mixing with juice, in his sleep and bribery .... is there anything I havent tried?

No more ideas than what you have already tried, I'm sorry. I would have thought in the juice would do the trick . I really hope that you manage to give him a couple of doses and his temp comes down.

Thanks I managed to get a little in by mixing it with hydra lite and a bendy straw. Temp is still at 39 but still 1.5 degree lower than before....

when my kids were little i literally force it down there mouths ... yes sometimes i wore it but majority they swallow it in between screams. Yes i know it sounds revolting forcing it in but sometimes thats the only way and to have a temp of 40 for that time i would be forcing it..

Another option is to try a different brand (eg my ds1 refuses panadol but will take dymadon)

Thanks. His 2.5 yrs. He can't have paracetemol so limits our options.
Tried forcing it down but he spits the lot out.
    His sleeping now finally.

Not sure if it works for toddlers but if you squirt it in there mouths and then blow on their faces it is a natural instinct for them to swallow. I was told that by a baby nurse and my DD is 14 months and it works a treat!

It's horrible when they're sick but refuse to take the thing that you know will make them feel better.

My DD is five and even now it is a struggle to get her to take medicine. It was nigh on impossible when she was younger. Have you tried putting it in a syringe and squirting it to the back of his mouth, so he can't spit it out but has to swallow? The only other suggestion is getting someone else to give him the medicine. For some reason DD takes medicine from her daycare centre teachers, but not from me or DH (even though we made sure to buy the same brand as daycare has...)
