    Question Jaffle Maker

I'm thinking for my birthday I'm going to ask for a top quality jaffle maker. we have one of those sunbeam flat sandwhich presses but i hate how all the fillings fall out. i want one that i can stuff full of vegemite and cheese and have it all neatly tucked in dh has an old cheap one but it just doesnt do the job- the bread gets soggy and it just doesnt toast it evenly or crispy enough. so....where do i start? what is the best jaffle maker out there?

Soggy bread? Huh? How on earth can it do that?!?! Anyway, I would only get another one which 'cuts' the jaffles in half. And more than likely one that makes four jaffles at once. I don't think there are any 'bad' brand jaffle makers; I think it's pretty much only sunbeam and breville that make them.

And when you do get one, be sure to use ONLY non scratch utensils to lift out your jaffles. This has been the demise of oir last two irons.

I have a breville one and it cooks 4 at a time. Essential when you have a large family like mine. I think that I'd rather have one like this even if I only had a small family too.

Yep, spend the money to get a decent one!! Mine is el cheapo and it makes the bread soggy...takes forever...so shyte.

My old Sunbeam one was the schizzle...cut them in half, made 4 at a time, and deep so they didn't ooze baked bean sauce all over the crusts! LOL

Like I have been saying all along - JAFFLES ROCK and flat cat toasties just don't.

Santa brought us a Breville 2x jaffle maker a couple of years ago, just like the ones they brought out back in the 80s, it has been fantastic! I think he found it at Big W cos I saw them up there around $40. I can even do an egg toastie (!) without the yolk running out, and it chops the toastie in half.

Not sure if this qualifies as top shelf, but dang I'm happy.

And PS tip to players - butter your bread on the outside or give it a quick spray with cooking oil for maximum jaffle crispiness.

Never have a soggy jaffle from my jaffle maker and mine is a $12 Coles special. I almost treat them as disposable. I love tinned spaghetti/baked beans and cheese jaffles!
Yep I butter it on the outside as well.

we have a kmart cheapie and yes, soggy bread drives me nuts - especially when i'm having taco meat and cheese in my sanga - i don't want soggy bread! it takes aaaaaaaaaaages!

we were talking about it just a few days ago, and we're going to get a bigger (4 sanga) one rather than a $9 cheapie next time - although a new $9 cheapie may just be required to tide us over for a few weeks... lol

so sounds like a breville one is the go?
i saw one this morning at myer this morning called 'breville the big one' which apparently took more filling? sounds great to me. it was around the $45 mark but you can only do 2 at a time.

Ours isn't the big one (original something) but it takes a large piece of bread and plenty of filling.
