    Angry centrelink debt?

Ok so im realy confused. DH has been on newstart he got a job i reported it included his income ect ect we received 1 payment from centrelink on the 19th after i had reported his income ect on the 17th. So flick forward to now and i realise we havent received had any payments from them including family ones.So i call them to find out whats going on. Turns out they stuffed up and put DHs job down as a one off. She tried to fix it and said the computer wont let her its telling her DH signed a dec form but she knows he hasnt as he hasnt been in there ect ect says she will see whats going on and call me back.
She calls me back says to fix it they cancilled his AND my payments and re-instated mine but now WE BOTH owe them money???? My question is how the flying heck is this possible??? We havent received any payments from them at all! And DHs new income is LESS than his income he had before with his other job????
    Help please???

Without looking direct at your file no one could say. You'd need to either ring and get someone to explain, or wait til you get debt letters.

Your parenting payment is dependent on his income so if you received a full payment after he had started work you may have been over paid.

Hi familyof3, I work at the Australian Government Department of Human Services in a team that responds to enquiries about Centrelink on social media sites like this one. Just further to Briggsy's Girl's advice, if you're only able to call from your mobile, the department has recently introduced technology where you can keep your place in the queue without waiting on the phone. There's more info about how it works here.

    All the best.
