In 6 months I have gained back the 4-5 kgs it took me 7 months to loose. My own fault, stepped down the gym sessions and let diet slip but now I have to start back up again and it depresses me. I don't want to do the same routine of gym classes and I don't want to watch what I eat. I start the day well with my diet and then as the day goes on I have a sneaky treat which turns into another sneaky treat and then before I know it I'm like what the hell ill just gave such and such cause I've already ruined the diet for the day. Anyway just need to get some motivational advice on getting back on the horse and any ideas for making exercise fun/ interesting again.
Throw out the idea of "diet", what you are doing is changing your lifestyle to eat healthy foods. A good diet is more important than the exercise component.
What I do is organise my food for the day, breakfast, lunches, snacks. Those are all taken to work with me. When I feel like snacking for the sake of snacking I have a huge glass of water, if I still feel hungry after that, then I'll have one of my snacks.
I also sit and savour my food, dinner is done at the dining room table, with it properly set, no distractions (like tv). I focus on what is going into my mouth and enjoy it.
Dinner is pre-planned, and usually pre-cooked (did a big cook-up on the weekend) so all I usually have to do is do the veges etc.
When I first started out, I used to do ancillary exercise, so things like walking when I usually drove (or took PT), so I wasn't focussing on exercising, I was just doing something I had to do but in a slightly different way.
Don't take it too serious to be depressed mentally. You should stick with your exercise plan and let it to do the things for you. Don't panic if you have eaten something wrong for your fitness because if you can manage to be more regular in your daily exercise routine then little bit food mistakes would not be an issue.
