    Anyone got a Loft Bed?

So, does anyone have a loft bed for their child/ren ? What do you and your children think of them? A loft bed, in case you don't know, is like a bunk bed, but no bed at the bottom. Instead there is a space for your furniture or cubby house, or built in desk, maybe cupbards and a shelf...

I'm thinking this would be a good idea, being that DD and DS share a room, and we're *really* tght for space (in the whole house). But I don't want that is really tall/high for the bed for a number of reasons; safety, easy for tired DD to get in and out of, and lastly, easy for me to change sheets, say good night, etc. I know I don't want to be setting off on an expedition just to give a goodnight kiss. I think not much higher than a metre...

However, being that all the loft beds I can find online are mostly high, or not with what I want (rollout/pullout desk, cupbard or wardrobe, shelves), or really expensive, I'm thinking of drawing up some plans and getting the Man to (hopefully) help me make one. DD likes some of them (in pictures), and maybe, if successful, we'll need to make another for DS, especially if Mack ends up in their room too! (Their room is a good size, I just need to get creative with storage)

You are in Vic aren't you? Have a look at Sharps Furniture on FB. He makes all sorts of things and combinations and what not, fairly reasonable prices too, and will make to measure etc.

If you are on Pinterest have a look on there too - I know my girlfriend was looking at some built in bunks recently to get her dad to build with stairs going up etc. and there are some really awesome ideas on there.

Have a look for captains beds. Some are just beds with drawers underneath others are higer with more storage and a few stairs.

We have the KURA kids loft bed from IKEA, have a look on their website, its not very high, but still high enough that you can fit toys, a cubby etc etc underneath. DS loves his

And well priced too! I googled 'KURA Bed pictures' and there are heaps of great set up ideas

Thank you for the direction to look in guys! Yep, we are in Victoria, but only just! Anything we do has to be able to be removed, as we are only renting our tiny little home. I have seem some of the ones on pinterest, some of them are awesome!

I was going to suggest something like a captains bed. A friend bought one for her DD. It has drawers under it, but still isn't too high off the ground. About 4-5 drawers high? Not as high as a bunk.
