I am sick of seeing streaks on my tiles after mopping!
I have tried:
Hot water and metho
Hot water and jaysol
Hot water and cloudy ammonia with a squirt of morning fresh (as per the bottle instructions)
Hot water and morning fresh
What else can I try?!
Also I have noticed that even after I mop the floors still have a film or bare foot marks on them. I have a commercial mop I use, I wash my mop as well!!
I use a spray mop. I put hot water, vinegar and a few drops of dishwashing liquid in the spray bottle. I find that because the floor isn't as wet it isn't streaky iykwim.
In lots of places I have traveled I have seen people dry after mopping. They put a towel on their feet and walk around. They always had super shiny floors.
We have high gloss polished porcelain floor tiles(biggest mistake ever)! Tried everything except the enjo mop head. Steam mop was a total waste of money. The only thing that works on our floor is mop with boiling hot water and immediately dry with a towel.....Love my Cinderella moments!
I mop about 2 a week at the moment and I still get black feet from walking bare foot (I know DH calls me a gypsy because I hate wearing shoes at home!) Its gross and drives me nuts!! figure the streaks are actually spread out grime etc.
Do I need to mop more? What am I doing wrong! Will the enjo get rid of it?
I'm thinking scooting around my house on a towel might be the answer :S
Enjo user here too just use water, and the fibre is damp so not leaving water behind. It dries faster and doesn't leave any residue for dirt to cling to. Leaves your floors cleaner for longer, only uses water, and the head is bigger so cleans faster! Can you tell I love my enjo mop? Hehehe. And when you order it, you choose the mop head to suit your floor type.
Slight side track.... Is enjo *just* a microfibre mop/wipe/whatever?
Would "any old microfibre" mop or cloth, dampened, not wet, produce streak free results?
I also read in another old thread, a stocking pulled over a soft broom would give streak free results. I'm guessing to just dip the tip of the covered bristles into the water, vinegar, and eucalytpus solution. ?
In my experience, you get what you pay for with the microfibre mops available. The Enjo will last you years and give excellent results, where cheaper supermarket brands wear out faster and don't give as good results. Enjo actually have some fascinating youtube vids where they experiment with different types of commercial cleaners, vinegar/bicarb, and I *think* other microfibres, and then test for bacteria etc. Really amazing!
Ok here is an update in my quest for perfect floors. Spoken to professional cleaner and...*everyone sit down*....add spray and wipe to your water and mop with that! Apparently you need to hit it hard at first (like mop every second day at least for the first 3 times) and it will get rid of the film (which is what causes the streak apparently).
Also, *everyone stay sitting*, you're not meant to use hot water!!! They say it breaks down the products and makes them soapy and causes more marks......
Ok so I am not sure I agree with the last one yet. I will consult my friend google first and update on my findings. I will let you know how Mr. Spay n Wipe performs too...
I ended up mopping three days in a row (out of necessity) with the spray n wipe. The water was dark dark every time, a lot darker than any other time I've mopped.
I used hot water, but didn't "run" it first, so it wasn't piping hot like normal. The floors have been heaps better though.
Now I am back to mopping as per usual, with the spray n wipe and it still works great, and seems to get a lot more dirt of the floors.
I don't have high gloss floors though, just Matt porcelain, so not sure how it goes on gloss.
