I have just had a call saying my paid parental leave application has been rejected. The lady said the letter one of my employers provided is not official enough and if I can't provide more official documentation it will not be approved.
The employer is my dad, he is a sole trader (tradesman) and I helped him out with his paperwork and occupational health and safety for a few months so I would have enough hours for PPL. I was paid in cash, and as his myob is only basic my pay slips were a money transaction in myob printed out with my hours and dates noted.
They have asked for something on letterhead, so if I create him a letterhead stating the hours worked and attach the details of each pay period will this be enough? The lady on the phone said she thinks it will be but can't be sure? I really don't know what else I can provide though?!
It was so casual because it is my dad, but now I don't want to get him in trouble for not paying me through the bank or making "official" payslips (I was under the impression that cash payment was ok and a very basic payslip was enough, I didn't want to go to the trouble of making him get a more advanced MYOB just for those few months)
Check out Fairwork for a the minimum requirement of a payslip. Under Pay - Payslips. At the bottom of the page there is a link to payslips templates etc.
