    Glass splashback

So I've finally got DH to come around to the idea of updating our kitchen with a glass splashback. Have someone coming around to give a quote later today.

Just wondering if anyone has any tips on what to look out for, colours etc?
We have white cupboard doors, and a corian bench top that is a medium grey with a few different coloured flecks in it. Floor tiles are light grey.

I'm thinking of the sort of natural glass look with the green tinge. Or maybe a metallic like silver.

I had one that was called stainless steel - colour like it suggests. It was really good for blending with colours, and not too bad at not showing every single little bit of goo on it. My kitchen then had a black based granite benchtop and maple wood doors.

I always wanted a red one - the sort of dark, blood red. My husband would never, ever go for it though

I have green and love it! We have white cabinets, black flecked laminate and wooden floors.

I have an aqua colour with creamy coloured Caesar stone and cupboards, and stainless steel appliances! Love the splash of colour it gives!

Black rose is yours the natural kinda green glass I was trying to describe? Does it still have impact even though it's not a super bright color?

Well the stupid sales rep didn't turn up and didn't bother to call. So furious. Had even managed to get DH home in time, which is not easy. So they have blown their chance and I will call another company on Monday. Just hope they can come soon since I'm due in 6 weeks!!! DH is going to call the first company on Monday and let them know their service sucks (he's better at that than me!).

My splashback is my favourite thing in my house! We have the dark red like Lulu was talking about - I guess it's like a claret. I like the way it contrasts with other things. You won't regret getting one!

We had the natural green in our last house. I liked it but never loved it and regretted not choosing something else. We had antique white cupboards black granite bench tops and stainless steel.
My current house has not one kitchen cupboard that actually closes lol lol and is a 1960s tragic Reno of fake wood!!
Enjoy your new splash back lucky ducky!!

So so so jealous. I would have loved one in our old house. Poo to DH's conservative streak ;-)

Yeah it's a natural green, kind of olive green I guess? It won't let me post a pic. That sucks that they didn't show up.

Just to throw a different idea into the mix - you could get plain glass over patterned wallpaper. Might be hard to get DH on board if he's a bit conservative.

We had the 'stainless steel' one in our old house and it looked fantastic. New house has a black glass splashback (not my choice) and it looks ok but shows every single drop or splash!

Ours is a coffee colour and like nickle said, be prepared to be wiping it all the time as they do show up every little thing. But they do look fantastic.
I too would have preferred red but DH was dead set against it. So I made up for it by buying red appliances

Ours doesn't seem to show up too much but a quick wipe and its clean much easier than tiles!

Ausgirl I believe they are in the range of $400-500 per lineal metre, including installation but excluding GST.

Hmm some great ideas here girls!
Joeve interesting that you regretted your choice of colour - your kitchen sounds very similar to what we have! I don't want to pick something that doesn't have the wow factor, considering its a few grand we'll be spending.

LizLemon I'm warming to the claret idea too - I think it would actually look awesome in our house.

I was definitely expecting them to show the dirt, but my current tiles are absolutely horrendous to clean. They need spray & wipe followed by window cleaner as they have a very reflective surface, and still they always show streaks. So I'm hoping the glass is at least streak free!!

We always wanted one when we built the house (been here 6.5 yrs) but circumstances at the time meant the budget didn't allow it. We managed to get the corian and vinyl wrap doors but the splashback didn't make it. So I'm stoked that DH is finally on board!!

Fionas I love the wallpaper idea too. Hmmm so much to think about!! If I can get the kitchen tidy today I will post a photo so you can see what I'm working with

Have been told they are $800 per square meter here but it could be different where you are

Just to throw into the mix, what about a corian one to match your benchtop? I have stone in my new kitchen, and the splashback is the same stone. It gives a really beautiful, seamless look. I can post a pic if you're curious

Jahzara gosh I hope they aren't $800/m here too!!

LuluHB if you could post a pic that would be great. I'm interested to see the matching splashback. Though I think it may be too dark for the look I'm wanting given our bench top is already dark.

    Here's a pic:
