Am getting to my wits' end dealing with about 5 poos from each child per day. One is 12 months, and the other is 3 soon (not toilet trained yet - the poos are making this hard).
Surely it's not normal? I've thought there might be some food allergies/intolerances going on, but they actually have quite different diets (not that they would necessarily have the same food thing going on). I've thought it could be too much fruit but reducing intake doesn't make much of a difference. I thought I might be giving them too much food, but they are both pretty slim.
I am really tempted to do a semi-elimination diet to see if I can get to the bottom of it all, but that seems a but overwhelming!
Has anyone been through this? I seriously can't handle all the poo!
Not 5 but my DD can regularly do at least 3. She's 2.5 and just toilet trained recently. No advice I'm afraid but I know how it feels to have to change yet another pooey nappy!!
Have you tried encouraging them to sit on the toilet longer to make sure it's all out?
Also Does the poo look normal and well formed without being to pebbly or soft? If its not formed properly, it could indicate a food intolerance or maybe not enough or too much of a particular food.
I think 5 poos is excessive. Maybe keep a food and poo diary for a week for each child as well just to see if there are any patterns. Then you could always take that to a doctor if you are concerned.
DS1 was pooing 3 times a day before being toilet trained and was generally soft and mushy paste. Once he toilet trained he became 1 or 2 a day and formed.
DS2 currently 2 a day poo and also mushy and soft assuming same will happen when he does toilet train.
I think more fact not be squished. I had same concern when DS1 was not close to tt that he was pooing too much and a few friends said same thing re it not being soft and squishy
