Has anyone experienced migraines that last for 2 days? I am 37 weeks now, and I started feeling really quite bad yesterday, before lunch time, feeling quite lethargic and tired and yucky. By afternoon I was lying on the lounge, not able to move really. I took 2 panadol, which did nothing, so went to bed. Woke at 12.30 with it becoming worse. Couldn't go back to sleep until around 3.30-4.00am. I still have the migraine, going across my temples, and top of my head. I am going to see my Dr today, as I have no more midwife appointments until my due date now. I have also been feeling a bit dizzy, and sick in the belly too. I did have a high BP scare last week, where they checked my wee and bloods. I had small amounts of protein, but nothing serious. Just wondering if anyone else has suffered migraines and what the Dr's have said?? TIA
Sweetie, I think you need to be seen by your dr sooner rather than later. A good friend had dangerously high BP at the end of her pregnancy and the headaches were terrible. Everything might be fine but you won't know unless you get it checked. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
I had migraines that lasted for three and four days throughout the second and third trimesters of all my pregnancies, but migraines are a normal part of life for me. I hated taking any sort of medication when pregnant but there were a few occasions when I had to take panadeine forte and have a maxolon shot for nausea.
I agree with PPs though - severe headaches and migraines can also be a sign of things that need to be checked out so best get yourself checked asap.
Hi all. Thanks for the advice. I rang hospital yesterday, they wanted me to come in ASAP. And I did. Apparently my BP was normal, a tad high for me, but within normal ranges. Also a small amount of protein, but nothing of concern. They said they can't find a cause for my migraine and sent me home. I've had PE before, so I know it can be dangerous. But I guess they weren't worried. I still have the migraine, not quite as bad as the last few days, and I have never had migraines before, pregnant or not!! My friend suggested a second opinion, but honestly, if my BP is normal and do on, I'd rather be at home getting ready for bub than wasting time waiting at hospitals for nothing
Glad you're ok, although still having the migraine is not flash.
Sorry if you know all of this already, but if you're still suffering you could try heat or cold to try and give yourself some relief. Migraine sufferers are quite different in what they find helps. When I'm not pregnant heat is a great thing for mine. When I am pregnant for some weird reason I switch to cold so face washers that are wet, in the freezer for 10 odd minutes and then wrap them around the back of your neck and over your forehead. Obviously if you find the heat better then wet with hot water (as hot as you can stand without scalding yourself), or wheat bags on your neck etc. Might give you some relief. HTH
