seems like he is regressing :(

so 2 weeks ago we started TTing DS. he was doing so well. prefers to wear pull ups tho so it wasn't to big a deal. got him some jocks with cars characters and Thomas on them but still wont wear them. had 1-2 accidents a day but that was more if he was watching TV or busy playing.

today he has done 1 wee in the toilet and everything else in the pull ups. no more wees. tried taking him regularly but he will sit and get off 2 secs later or he just wont go near his potty or the toilet. we got him new style boxer short trunk style jocks which he likes but even them he wont wear today. I now have him in a nappy because I am at my wits end what to do! he has croup and asthma at the moment so I am not sure if that has something to do with it. am I going wrong somewhere or is this completely normal?

    TIA xx

Absolutely not going wrong anywhere, hun . TTing really is 2 steps forward and one step back and can be SOOOO frustrating! Have you tried him with no bottoms on...just another thing to try but can be messy, I know.

It also sounds like he isnt well atm and that always seems to put things on accident mode. Try not to stress, he will get it, it just takes a lot of time and persistance

If it was me I'd give him a break for a few months. He doesn't appear to be really truly ready. Can you hold off for a bit? Easier putting them back in nappies for a bit than going crazy with frustration

I'd stop for now. Try again in a few weeks when he's well.

I tried when my son wasn't ready and nothing worked.

The second time we tried the difference was amazing. It was clear he understood and he was heading to the toilet on his own within a few days.

I reckon he's not really ready and being sick is making it worse.

    thanks ladies.

well after I posted yesterday he decided he would start using the potty and the toilet again. no accidents yesterday afternoon plus he decided to put his new undies on. he has a good understanding and will often take himself to the toilet/potty without any prompting just when he is so focused on something he needs that bit of a reminder.

might just let him go and see what happens. not going to push it tho.

    thank you
