Somewhere hot. In June. With kids.

Wanted: holiday destination, local or international, for me plus two kids (aged 10 and 7) for 10 days or so in June.

Requirements: Two bedroom apartments/units/whatever. Resort-type accommodation. Pool or near safe beach. Preferably with cheap babysitters/kids club included. I just want to be warm, let the kids play, and rest.

Needs to be (relatively) inexpensive - preferably $3-$5K total (including flights and accommodation and food if possible).

Oh and yeah - food. DS1 is gluten free and neither of them eat chilli, curry or nuts... dietary issues are hard to manage. So somewhere that has the option of Western style cuisine would be fabulous.

Last thing: must have alcohol available. Preferably in copious amounts. Delivered by a pool boy to my cabana. Oh the dream....

Until I saw your budget I was going to say Hawaii (but you might win lotto, so it could be a possibility) they love kids there, it's hot and, you can get as many poolside drinks as you want.

We went to Port Douglas in November. It should be nice this time of year. The place we stayed at had an amazing pool but I wouldn't recommend it if you have escape artists living with you (as we found DS2 playing in the pond out the front at 2am one morning) and I don't think they have a kids club.

Have you thought about Fiji? I think most of their resorts have kids clubs.

I would definitely recommend Hawaii. Maybe you can find a deal? My gf is visiting ATM for work and it sounds amazeballs. And the food is very varied.

Fiji. Definitely. Ticks all your boxes. We stayed at the Outrigger on the Lagoon near Sigtoka, on the big island. Varied accommodation styles - we had a bure on the beach front as it was our honeymoon but we have since looked at and priced a three bedroom villa. They do great package deals. Heaps for kids to do including kids club and nannies. Heaps of swimming available. Heaps of alcohol available.

And an amazing day spa - so worth a visit for relaxation.

ETA - you will struggle in Aus at that time of year. You need to go north of Brisbane and even then I've been to cairns in July and we still had long sleeves at night - we just aren't close enough to the equator. Go O/S.

Port Douglas is a pretty awesome place, though you'd have to research the kids clubs/babysitting ect because I went on my own without kids or hubby! But it's a beautiful destination with plenty of beaches, the Daintree and Great Barrier Reef all with in stones throw.

I know someone who lives in PNG

Our boys loved Thailand. Lots of rice based foods (is rice gluten free?). It's cheap and hot. Dunno about sunny. If it's the wet season it might be more monsoony than sunny.

Fiji Warwick Resort and Spa. Pay set price and all food is included. 3 meals a day. Buffet Style. You pay for alcohol though. We had endless drinks served to us by the pool, in the restaurants and up at the sunset bar and at the end of 10 days our bar tab was just over $200.00 AUD. It also has a couple of restaurants in the resort if you want to spice up the menu and the Seafood Restaurant is to die for. Yum. Its over the water with a sand floor. We went on our honeymoon in May and perfect swimming weather everyday. It got warmer by the time we left. They have kids club too. The Fiji Naviti is the sister resort 5 minutes away and is very family friendly. As we were on honeymoon we wanted somewhere quiet but there were still plenty of kids around. The resorts have a shuttle bus between them every half hour I think so you can go between the two. Our honeymoon cost us just under $4K with flights included from Adelaide. Cant wait to go again. Its right on the beach, which is like a lagoon very calm and perfect for snorkling etc and has two pools.

Fiji! They have lots of places with kids clubs, we went to Sonaisali but the Shangrila was next on our list. All our meals were included, the kids had a ball in the kids club and we want to go back. We needed a nanny for our younger too to join the kids club as they were under 4 but it was super cheap about $5 an hour.

Cairns/port Douglass is beautiful at that time of year. But yeah you will get chilly nights (15 ish) but days are around 25/27 average. PLUS if you came up here you get to visit MEEEEEE
