    psuedomenses

    Hi all,
I found the thread on this earlier, and I know it's normal, should last up to 7 days, but how much is normal?
DD is 6 days old has had the bleeding since day 3, and currently is been in every nappy, about a small teaspoon amount.
DH is more freaked by it than me, I have raised it with the midwife (home visit) and she spoke to us (whole other thread!) but made us feel silly and typical first time parents.
I have since asked a relative who is a midwife, she said she's not seen that amount before but she then she only sees babies up to day 2-3!

Wow, I've had 3 girls and not once have I seen this (had to google what it was). If you're concerned, definitely ring the hospital or maybe see your GP even? Shocking memory and can't remember what state you're in either, but if its Vic, call maternal and child health line on 132229

    Re: psuedomenses

both my girls had this. DD1s lasted 4 days and DD2s lasted 6. both times it was less than a teaspoon and sometimes only when i wiped them. it has to do with all their hormones post birth and is normal for little girls

DD2 had a pseudomenses. I can't recall exactly how long it lasted, but I think it was close to a week. It was in each nappy I changed, but was certainly less than a teaspoon in each nappy. Are you sure it is that much, a teaspoon is quite a lot of fluid when it is spread over a nappy, I reckon it would cover most of the crutch area of a new born nappy? DD2 had a stain of red blood about the size of a 5 to 10 cent piece in each nappy, as well as bloody mucus when I wiped her vagina. (Certainly freaked out my DH, who had never heard of such a thing!!)
