Abnormal liver function test in infant

    Hi ladies,

I'm hoping someone might have some advice. My DS who is 6 months old had some blood tests done last week due to blood in his poop and loss of weight. The paed just rang to say all the results were fine except the liver function test which came back at 130, the 'cutoff' being 80. She's sending me a form to have the test done again. She said not to stress, I'm sure they have to say that, and whilst I was calm on the phone the more I think about it the more concerned I get. I have of course googled but am not finding much info on the actual levels and what that may mean. 130 sounds way over normal but perhaps it's not that bad? Anyone experienced anything similar?

    TIA

I don't know what it means in an infant, but I do know in adults that levels can fluctuate a lot due to non-serious reasons like having an infection or taking medications. Try not to worry, it may be something temporary, and if its not the dr will monitor it carefully & find out what's going on.
