Breast milk is fabulous but it won't cure the flu.
My DD (5yrs old) has come down with the flu, panadol is helping but she's still miserable! While BFing my 2 month old this morning it came to mind - could offering her some expressed milk help? Is this a silly idea? She isn't eating much either. Has anyone else tried this?

Am I losing it? I swear Heaven answered this thread first and now there is no post from her.....????
Ausgirl I think there were two threads the same so one might have been deleted
It will boost her immune system and keep her hydrated for sure. I pump for my two year old DD, as a drink or on her cereal, whatever. I also make yogurt the whole family eats, we've made icecream, and the whole family also has it as a drink (or in coffee lol) whenever there is some left.
LOL, I wondered what I'd done wrong!! Now I see there are two threads.
Anyway, I don't think it's silly at all because breastmilk contains antibodies that can help. If you've had this flu before or been exposed to it now then you will have antibodies. And something else amazing I've read is that even if you haven't been exposed but your baby has then when your baby feeds your breast somehow works this out and starts making antibodies for your baby. Boobs are totally awesome. Anyway, it's not going to do any harm so I'd definitely try it!
Thanks for all you repliesand sorry about the confusion I wasn't sure where to post it so posted in two areas.
