    No vaginal opening??

So, I just changed DD2's nappy and noticed no vaginal opening. I'm confused, I'm pretty sure there was one before, but I can't guarantee it (I haven't consciously checked before). You can see the two side and kind of like a join, but there's not an opening.
Has anyone had this happen? I'm kinda freaked out and am gonna make a doc appointment this morning.

I believe there is a cream the Dr can give you that will thin the skin so it reappears.

Completely normal. It will thin as she gets older and open. That's what they call the hymen and although most babies are open and widen as they get older and closer to puberty some girls take much much longer for this to happen. Absolutely nothing to worry about. My daughter's was also completely closed and not that it something you look at but I am sure it was still closed when she was in early primary school. For obvious reasons I don't know when it did open but she has just started menstruating and its obviously opened now. My younger two girls were open from birth.

Thanks for the reassurance I've been googling like mad lol. I think I'll get the doc to check to make sure there are no other issues. I'm not so frantic now lol.

I can't see how old your DD is, but it could be a labial adhesion. My DD had it too when a young baby and we decided to go with the cream and all was back to normal in a short amount of time.

I was having a panic too when the health nurse pointed it out. You'd never know it now though.

Yes, absolutely normal. I know another little girl whose vagina didn't open up until right before puberty. It's uncommon, but I believe most medical practioners worth their salt don't worry a mite about it until a babe is getting closer to puberty.

I use to work as a theatre nurse and occasionally the gyne would perform something called a hymen resection or debridement of the hymen. They were all young girls around the 14-16 that were having difficulties with menstration because of a thickened hymen. The vaginal opening was very small but open so I think it would be extremely rare to get to that age without the vagina opening even if only slightly

The doc wasn't worried at all. It actually looked a tiny bit more separated at the doc. Maybe my double and triple checking did something? He said sometimes some swelling (for some random reason) can cause it to look more closed too (well something along those lines).
