    meningococcal vaccine?

    hi, i caught the tail end of a story on the news last night about a meningococcal vaccine. is this part of the normal schedule or do i have to go to the gp specifically for it? what age should kids have it at? thanks
    also, what age can kids the flu vax at?

    not sure about the meningococcal vax...

    i *think* that the flu vax is not recommend for under 5s??

    I believe it is 12 months , as per the Medicare Australia website they have the vaccine schedule on the site .

    Meningococcal vaccine: on the schedule @ 12 months of age

    Flu vaccine for children: worth discussing with your GP. They can vaccinate for flu from 6 months of age, but I think they tend to only recommend it as a routine measure if there is a specific medical condition involved. For one, they need to use a special vaccine for small kids (and it changes every year) and also they have to have 2 doses to get the same effect.
